Guest guest
The people in the USA better start getting the word out to everyone that big pharma is trying to shut off your vitamins around the world. Everyone better organize to defeat this effort or you can kiss goodbye your's and your loved one's vitamins. Join something. Send info to all, etc. Do something. Frank http://www.alliance-natural-health.org/ Just one of the EU Directives, the Food Supplements Directive will effectively ban around 5000 products currently available in more advanced EU supplement markets such as the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden and Ireland. This includes products containing over 300 vitamin or mineral forms disallowed by the directive, many being food-state nutrients rather than synthetic or inorganic forms. This process has already begun as the Food Supplements Directive, passed into EU law in June 2002, is implemented by Member State governments. In a bid to give companies time to comply with the draconian laws, the bans will not become effective until 1 August 2005. Last year, the Alliance for Natural Health was instrumental in helping to table a range of key amendments at First Reading to the Pharmaceuticals Directive as well as the proposed Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive, two other European directives that could potentially drastically affect the availability of innovative supplements. Now the Alliance for Natural Health, with its rapdily expanding support base within and outside Europe, is preparing to challenge the Food Supplements Directive. Join the Alliance for Natural Health if you would like to be part of our pan-European and international campaign to ensure that safe, effective and innovative dietary supplements are maintained on the market. We invite you to explore our website and discover why the Alliance for Natural Health's approach is so important to the future of healthcare, and of vital concern to consumers, nutritional practitioners, distributors, formulators and manufacturers of innovative dietary supplements. Is reformulation to comply with the new EU legislation the best option? Many nutritional supplement companies are now being advised widely that they should re-formulate their products to comply with the Food Supplements Directive. Apart from re-formulation, the other options include: Losing products or ingredients Submission of dossiers Improvement of dossier regime Challenging the Directive The Alliance for Natural Health is working tirelessly particularly on this fourth option - the only option that safeguards innovative nutrients and complementary healthcare in the long-term. Re-formulation (and full acceptance of the Directive) would leave us only with low-dose, low-bioavailability, low efficacy vitamin and mineral products, and will force the loss of a large number of vital nutrient forms, food-state minerals and trace elements! Commercially, re-formulation would mean that innovative manufacturers and formulators would pay a hefty price as they would lose their products’ USP (unique selling point). From a health point of view, the long-term effect of losing both specific nutrients because it is simply too expensive and difficult to comply with the requirements, as well as higher dosages (to be disallowed in the near future if the Directive remains unchallenged), could be catastrophic. Contrary to the unsubstantiated view of the UK's Food Standard Agency, there is a fast growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating that the nutritional quality of the average western diet is inadequate and micronutrient deficiency is widespread.
