My son, who is autistic (but getting less so all the time) is only 6 1/2 and gets 2 1/2 grams of vitamin C each day. I should really take more than I do, but I'm so busy with his special diet and supps and chelation that i overlook my own health sometimes. > > Do you smoke, drink lots of very hot liquids, or otherwise > stress your mouth out? > No smoking but I like my tea. However, I never drink it really hot. Do you want to know what has stressed my mouth? This grapefruit seed extract! My tongue hurts! No more of that. I thought it might kill this infection but it hasn't'. > If so, now may be a good time to consider > changing your lifestyle. > Better late than never. Guest guest
What you do is up to you. Nobody here can recommend a specific course of treatment. I know I sure would not take any antibiotics unless my life was in danger, but others may choose to do otherwise. What is your diet like? When I ate a lot of sugar, I would get periodic infections in my mouth. Are you on any allopathic meds? If so, you might want to look on the web to see if mouth infections are a possible side effect of those meds. If so, consult the doc who prescribed them, but beware of docs who want to give antibiotics without trying to discover underlying causes. Symptomectomy is a dangerous game. What sort of vitamins & supplements do you take daily? How much? My experience may not apply to you, but I found my general gum & mouth health increased by increasing my vitamin C intake. Do you smoke, drink lots of very hot liquids, or otherwise stress your mouth out? If so, now may be a good time to consider changing your lifestyle. Your body may be trying to communicate to you that you are doing long-term damage to it. Do you have periodic oral herpes? I found that when my diet was poor, and I used a lot of caffeine, I was prone to both herpes outbreaks in the corners of my mouth and sore white spots inside my mouth. Increasing lysine helped both. No idea if taking a lysine tablet or two twice a day would help you or not. All I can do is report on my personal experience.
