Guest guest
I do not know about the last few years; But Consumer Reports was practically rabid in in it's condemnation of vitamins in the past. Their mindset was on testing washing machines so they could only understand instant results. healthgurus [healthgurus] Thursday, July 31, 2003 5:12 PM Re: *URGENT* need reply bi-polar , foxhillers@a... wrote: > In a message dated 7/31/03 2:47:19 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > nevada753@s... writes: > > Gregory Go to www.nordicnaturals.com. If you want a good supplement, visit your local health food stores or obtain from some reliable internet source! Sam's Costco's and Sundown are formulated by the pharmas (Rexall, which is now affiliated with GNC) and literally worthless! Guest guest
Lorenzo, Back when I was heavily into 35 mm cameras, consumer report consistently gave advice which was contrary to advice given by the serious amateur camera magazines. So I do not trust consumer reports for much of anything. However, saying that I personally have problems with consumer reports is very different from saying what you say in the paragraph below is really quite different than saying you have personal issues of trust with those organizations. By what evidence do you say that buying vitamins at Sam's is a waste of money? If, indeed, the brands you mention are formulated by a big pharmacy company (which I do not know, an URL would have been useful), what makes you say the vitamins are worthless? If you have information to back up these claims, please share the information (with referencing URLs). > If you > purchase your vitamins at Sam's or Costco's you may as well throw > your money in the trash! Guest guest
Rick, It is unclear from your post -- are you saying that omega 3 oils are produced in the human body by getting enough sunlight? Or are you saying that people need both an increase in omega 3 from their diet *and* they also need sunlight? Guest guest
Alobar, I still think the Consumer reports is good for cars. My 1981 Datsun with 150,000 miles has had NO factory defects! I chose it because CR said it had the lowest frequency of repair records! But they were biased against vitamins. It was someone else that said --- " buying vitamins at Sam's is a waste of money " NOT I. It was someone else that said --- " vitamins are worthless " NOT I! Guest guest
Sorry if I misread & said it was you, Lorenzo. Just trying to separate personal opinion from objective facts. I have plenty of personal bias when it comes to most anything. I try to give my personal experiences (positive or negative) along with my opinions so people know where I am coming from. If more than my personal opinion, I try to give quotes from books & /or websites. What I was upset about is the blanket statements with no backing it up. Hard for any of us to learn if we are given opinions stated as though they are facts. Sorry, again, Lorenzo, for mistaking you for the originator of those phrases. For some reason, my ISP bounces some posts from & does not specifically tell me which posts bounce -- so I sometimes miss a post or 3 in some or all of my groups, which I rarely go hunting for. So I must have missed the post in which those phrases originated. But the person does not really matter in this case. It is the way in which we all sometimes disagree which I was attempting to address. Guest guest
Alobar, I think this problem is common; Sometimes I become confused as to who said what. I generally provide reference URL's or suggest a net search for back up; depending on circumstance.
