A few weeks ago, a friend of mine questioned the wisdom of my

use of vitamin C to bowel tolerance. I have been busy & had no time

to look back thru all of the vitamin C info I had gleaned from this

list & posted into my online journal. Then Frank reposted exactly

what I was looking for. Frank, you saved me many hours of work!

When re-reading the material, I saw mention of Vitamin C to

bowel tolerance used to treat Multiple Sclerosis. I have a friend

with MS so I wanted more info. So I went to the site Frank gleaned

the info from, looked around, and saw an e-mail button to write to

Dr.Saul. He sent a form letter telling me I should do a web

search. I did so & got back a zillion possibilities -- most of

which were not really applicable, many of which were

counter-productive, and the rest of which never gave the kind of info

I was looking for.

I would like to present to my friend some success stories of

using vitamin C to bowel tolerance (or anything else!) to treat MS.

If anyone has any web links, I would be most appreciative.

Anyone have any experience with taking Alacer Emergen-C? This can be taken

in large doses since is in the form of Mineral Ascorbates so doesn't cause

diarrhea in large doses.

a) What do they define as a large dose?

b) Why would it be desirable to negate loose bowels from taking too

much? Without feedback from one's body, how does one determine the

dose?

c) Which minerals & in what ratio?

d) What is the cost? Buying pure ascorbic acid in 3 pound jars, I

am paying about $12/lb which works out to less than 3 cents a gram.

Since my body wants me to take 20-30 grams a day, the cost is

moderate. But if I were paying 10 cents a gram or higher, the cost

increase would tempt me to cut back on what my body wants. And

this, imo, would not be a good thing.
