I participated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled depression research study about 10 years ago comparing the anti-depressants fluoxetine (Prozac) and paroxetine (Paxil) vs. placebo. After I finished the study, I found out that I had been given the placebo. This shocked the hell out of me because I had experienced tremors in one arm during the first weeks of the study. I firmly believed that I had been put on some type of drug, even though my depression symptoms did not improve much. I was told the placebo was " probably " a sugar pill. Now I wonder... Cathy B.
