Many thanks for your advice. Gout is caused by too much uric acid which crystallize and forms hard, calcified deposits around your joints. It is also thought to be a form of arthritis. As far as diet goes watch your intake of green leafy veggies that contain oxalic acid and vegetables in the nightshade family. Some veggies that contain a lot of oxalic acid are spinach, kale and asparagus is thought to aggravate gout. For more information on vegetables and oxalic acid content go to www.HolisticBirds.com and go to the issue that features the food pyramid for parrots. If you want me to send you the link email me privately and I'll send you the direct link. You need to keep your body in an alkaline state to combat the Uric acid and Uva Ursi is of great benefit for achieving this. My mother had very painful bouts with gout, multiple UTI's and Uva Ursi and Cornsilk herbal extracts have helped her tremendously. She is also getting Glucosimine Chondroitn and MSM twice daily. The allopathic treatment is allopurinol. Christine E.

Guest guest
Hello Anna, celery seeds are a very good remedy for gout and also for rheumatoid arthritis - combine 2 tsp celery seeds with 1 tsp lignum vitae, and add 1/2 a tsp to a cup of boiling water. Avoid large doses in pregnancy and do not buy seeds intended for cultivation, as they are often treated with fungicides. Good luck! - Ray. Dear Friends, Does anyone know of ways to treat gout please through diet, herbal, or vitamin supplements. Many thanks for your advice. Guest guest
Dear Medicine Man, Thank you very much for your advice. You are absolutely right about avoiding meat. I believe this is how he got into the mess he is in. He was doing the Atkins diet. Bad idea! Anna
