Guest guest
MELANOMA Your choices determine your risk. This page was last updated on: July 16, 2002 http://www.geocities.com/mrsjoguest/Melanoma.html There's a very good chance you know someone personally who has had skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. This year, skin cancer is expected to claim the lives of 9,600 people. according to the American Cancer Society. Unfortunately, a person born today is twice as susceptible to malignant melanoma--the most dangerous form of skin cancer--as someone born 10 years ago, and 12 times as susceptible as someone born 50 years ago. Who's at risk? Anyone can get skin cancer. However, individuals with certain characteristics face a greater risk. Those characteristics include: *Fair complexion and blue eyes *Family History of skin cancer *History of sunburns during childhood *Unusual moles *A high number of moles *Freckles Anti-cancer foods -- Clearly, to reduce your risk of skin cancer, your first step is to reduce your exposure to UV radiation. In addition, certain foods may reduce your risk of skin cancer, as well as other types. Consider adding the following to your diet: *Cruciferous Vegetables--Such as organic Cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage--contain phytochemicals called indoles and isothiocyanates. These compounds have been found to block or reduce cell damage. *Green or Black tea--provide polyphenols that may inhibit the development of cancer. Matcha tea is very helpful in this regard. *Fresh Garlic Cloves-- have been found to effectively destroy cancer cells. In one study, white blood cells from garlic eaters were able to kill 139 percent more cancerous cells than white blood cells from non-garlic eaters. *Onions-- including leeks, shallots, scallions, and sweet white onions, protect against cancer. Onions and other Allium vegetables contain a compound that helps prevent cancer cells from dividing and multiplying. Also, " quercetin " , a specific bioflavonoid in onions, has been shown to stop the growth of tumors in animals. *Green and Orange Fruits and vegetables-- have been shown to stimulate immune function. These foods contain carotenoids, of which beta-carotene is the most well-known. *Lemons, Grapes, plums, grapefruit, cherries, blackberries and rosehips are some of the richest dietary sources of bioflavonoids. Two particular compounds of bioflavonoids demonstrate a remarkable ability to slow down cancer growth and even reverse cancer cells to normal, healthy cells. " PABA " .....protects against ultraviolet radiation and soothes sunburned skin. " These foods fit in with the American Cancer Society's dietary guidelines: Eat five or more servings of fresh organic fruits and vegetables each day; eat other foods from plant sources, such as whole grains or beans, several times a day; avoid foods that are high in saturated (hydrogenated) fat or transfatty acids (found in most margarines and many types of snack foods and baked goods) in addition to limiting consumption of red meat, especially meats high in saturated fat. A Study done at Baylor University concluded that individuals with high nutritional diets were at minimal risk for skin cancer! Skin-protective natural compounds-- Besides covering up and eating right, certain natural supplements are known to promote skin health. They include: *Carotenoids-- are a class of compounds related to vitamin A. They are known to reduce free-radical destruction that may cause premature destruction and aging of the cells. In addition, growing evidence indictates that mixed carotenoids, taken internally, can help reduce the damaging effects of the sun. The authors of a 1995 German study concluded, " Mixed carotenoid supplements (50 mg or more each day) protect the skin against the harmful effects of UV radiation. *Selenium-- protects against ultraviolet radiation that can lead to cancer, according to animal studies. Since selenium is very powerful, it's important to take no more than the recommended amounts. (200-400 mcg.)Organic eggs, nuts and seeds are rich in selenium, brazil nuts are one of the richest in this fabulous component. *Coenzyme Q10-- provides significant immune-enhancing and antioxidant properties. Personal friends and relatives with the dreaded disease have received much benefit from taking this supplement. 300 mgs or more daily for maxiumum benefit. " Quercitin--works with Vitamin C to fortify connective tissue, and helps to block the development of various tumors. " *Pycnogenol-- an extract of French maritime pine bark, has demonstrated impressive benefits for skin health. Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin indicates that Pycnogenol can protect against ultraviolet radiation-induced damage to the skin. Pycnogenol also promotes the skin's flexibility and strength, and appears to protect it from premature, sun-related aging. *Quercetin-- is a powerful, antioxidant bioflavonoid found in onions, apples, kale, sweet cherries, grapes, red cabbage, green beans, and green tea. It works with vitamin C to fortify connective tissue, and helps block the development of tumors. *Pau-d'arco--(Tahehuia spp.) contains a substance that triggers cancer cell death without damaging healthy cells, according to nutritionist, author, and radio host Gary Null, Ph.D. *Tea Tree Oil--(Melaleuca alternifolia), while not specifically recommended for skin cancer, effectively treats sunburns. It provides quick relief for red and sore skin. When combined with calamine lotion, tea tree oil adds anti-infective and anti-inflammatory activity. Clearly, the best way to prevent skin cancer is to reduce your exposure to the sun. By covering up, avoiding tanning booths, eating an organic whole-foods, anti-cancer diet, and taking skin-protective supplements, you can dramatically reduce your risk of this widespread-- and potentially deadly-- condition. A study done at Baylor University confirms that those with high nutritional diets have only minimal risk! Supplementation also decreases your risk. Please be reminded that a total lack of sun is also very unhealthy. The Immune system becomes depressed from a total lack of sunlight! Strive for a healthy balance. In Closing.... We love sunshine, but we need to treat it with respect. Enjoy the sun, but protect yourself. Instead of that " healthy-looking " tan, opt for a truly " healthy " skin! Dr. Whitaker http://www.drwhitaker.com Curaderm is a cream made from an Australian plant called the devil's apple. The juice of this plant has been used for years to halt the growth of cancerous growths around the eyes of cattle in Australia. Guest guest
Dear JoAnne, A few months ago, I was unable to get it from Masters Marketing, although I have bought it in the past from them. They were having some squabble with the world wide supplier. It seems that the scientist, Bill Cham, who " discovered " and formulated this substance, gave the marketing rights for outside of Australia to some friend of his that lives in the carribean. He is now busy with other medical projects. In this way all of the supply is bottlenecked at this very small company. I would first call Masters Marketing and ask for Julie to see if the supply has been reestablished. If not then you could call Australia. The Company there is Cura Nominees. 1645 Ipswitch Rd. #14 Rocklea, Queensland, Australia. Tele. 011-619-3274-4452 Ask for Kareem Cham (He is the son of Bill Cham) If you are still unable to get any, please email me. I have used it successfully in the past and it seems to almost " explode " the cancer cells. There is also a book that has also been written about this substance. It is called: The Skin Cancer Answer by Dr. I. William Lane and Linda Comac. I bought my copy at www.half.com (used) for about $3 to $4 + shipping of $1.50 approx. Guest guest
---Frank, Thank You very much for the ongoing research and update on this amazing natural remedy. Although I was not aware there was a book (thanks for this), the pamphlet I originally derived the info from stated that it was/is commonly used for cancerous lesions in horses (eyes) there in Australia. Its fabulous to realize that the cream is also effective for us as well. The results sound quite fantastic! I will pass this on to all my groups. Thanks again! Perhaps I am a bit paranoid, however this lack sounds very suspicious to me and it is currently available only on prescription? Guest guest
Hi JoAnne, I do not understand all the business history about this medication, but from what I have been able to glean, it originally was available without a prescription and was considered a very safe med and was sold over the counter there. It became very popular in Australia and was selling very well. The medical establishment there caused a big furor about it and it was then put on a prescription only list. Most of thee doctors there then became reluctant to prescrible it and tended to use only the standard treatments that were available prior to the curadurm. It then became harder to get, even in Australia. For some reason, I have been unable to learn exactly why, Bill Cham the scientist who owns the product, gave the world marketing rights to an aquaintance of his who lives in the carribean. It appears that that person doesn't know much about international business either. I have the phone number for them also if you want it. They then appointed another friend who lives in the states to arrange the sale offshore of the usa, for us customers, but is quite a primitive sales arrangement. If you need some cream and cannot arrainge for it please let me know as I might be able to help. I tried some of the other so called similar products supposedly made with the same ingredients, but found them lacking and with poor results. I think it must have something to do with the strength of the herbal formula, as the actual amount of the herb involved is very small. 1 gram of cream with only has 50 micrograms of the actual herb. I did get some of the curaderm and it worked beautifully. Before, there were some before and after photos on the web showing very dramatic results on even large lesions. I found the pictures using the google search engine. regards, Frank , " JoAnn Guest " <angelprincessjo> wrote: > ---Frank, > Thank You very much for the ongoing research and update on this > amazing natural remedy.
