Guest guest Posted June 23, 2003 Report Share Posted June 23, 2003 Chai Oatmeal JoAnn Guest Jun 23, 2003 11:20 PDT Chai Oatmeal Be sure to use the long-cooking oatmeal for the lowest glycemic choice! 4 cups water 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon ground clover pinch ground black pepper 1 cup steel cut (Irish or Scottish) oatmeal 1/4 cup butter (optional) 2 teaspoons ground flaxseed 1/4 cup heavy cream 1 tablespoon agave nectar or alternative sweetener (to taste) Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan, adding the spices. Add the oatmeal, butter and flaxseed, stirring. Reduce the heat; simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a small bit of water, if needed, during cooking. Stir in the cream and sweetener.
