Coral Calcium Crumbles, But Did The Government Cite All The Hucksters? And Does

Alkalinity Really Cure Cancer?

After the Council for Responsible Nutrition petitioned government authorities to

take action against the marketers of coral calcium supplements for making

unfounded health claims, and following editorial pleas in Time Magazine and the

New York Times for health agencies to take action, the Federal Trade Commission

(FTC) has dropped a heavy hammer against all marketers of coral calcium, in

particular Coral Calcium Supreme, a product marketed on television by Shop

America. The FTC not only names in its action Keven Trudeau and Dr. Robert

Barefoot, the “stars” of the widely syndicated TV infomercial that touts Coral

Calcium Supreme, but it also warns websites that sell this product to

“discontinue these claims immediately” and requires them to notify via

electronic mail of their specific corrective actions within 7 days of

notification. [see www.ftc.gov for further information]

But there’s more. Why only cite TV infomercials and websites? What about all the

health products trade shows that gave Robert Barefoot center stage for his

fraudulent claims? What about all the supplement manufacturers who climbed on

top of the pile and introduced their own versions of coral calcium? What about

the natural products magazines that accepted the advertising for coral calcium?

What about the health food stores? Even Walmart is displaying the original Coral

Calcium Supreme. Shouldn’t they all be required to remove any unsubstantiated

health claims and notify the FTC? Don’t they all have a credibility problem

here? Doesn’t the public place some level of trust in the natural products

industry? Coral calcium has tremendously invigorated the sales of dietary

supplements to the point where apparently no one dared lift a voice against

Barefoot, after all, the money was flowing in. For the past eight months this

author has posted a report citing many of the false claims by

Robert Barefoot and those who market coral calcium as a cure for cancer. Few in

the natural products industry cared to heed my warning.

For decades the alternative medicine community has blindly accepted the idea

that a state of acidity in the human body promotes cancer while an alkaline

state prevents cancer. Robert Barefoot and accomplices have long advocated

calcium as a cure for cancer because of its alkalinity. Actually, the opposite

is true. For the real truth about cancer and pH, click below to access my
