Guest guest
Hi, I posted this yesterday, but noticed it never appeared in the messages? So I'll repeat my question.... I have been taking 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed for the past couple of yrs every morning in my cereal. However, I recently read that raw flaxseed contains cyanogen, a compound that your body turns into thiocynanate, which can depress thyroid function. Is this correct & is flaxseed the wonderful food that I once thought it was? Should I avoid flaxseed? Also, I'm interested in using only those oils that are classifed as " healthy " such as olive oil. Can someone list the oils that are benefical? I know that vegetable oils, canola, cottonseed are some of the ones to avoid. Also, which oils are o.k. for deep frying? Thanks, Angie
Guest guest
Hi. I'm pretty much new to eating naturally. I'm still in the process of switching from processed to un-processed foods but anyway. Flaxseed is natural, right? The way I see it almost anything is ok in moderation, naturally speaking. Anything can be over done. Something comes to mind about this guy I heard about, I forget his name bare with me, he lived his life trying to keep everything around him sterile, he tried to eliminate all bacteria, fungus, virus, etc. from his sorrounding. Then one day dies from the common cold. His immune system became so sensitive it couldn't handle a common cold. So the point is everything has a porpose. Trust your body to eliminate and process, trusted that you give it the right material to work with. Also always be aware of where the information comes from. There's always a method to the madness, usually money. If buying flaxseed is going to steer you from that persons direction of course their going to tell you it's bad. As for the oil get UDO's oil or cold pressed organic olive oil.
