Guest guest
<- ragadugu Hi everybody...anyone know about these symptoms: heavy feeling in chest while lying down, centered in breastbone and radiating out, mostly to left, pressure, occaisional small stitchlike pains under breastbone around breasts, mostly to the left. Could this be muscular, or does it denote a heart condition? Thanks for any replies...regards, scarlett> Hi Scarlett, I read this last night and started answer you last night. I'm new to this list and this is my first post here. I think it is unless I forgot about posting before. I'm not a doctor, but I do have some experience with similar type pains. Are you still having the pains? Probably be a good idea to get it checked out at the emergency room. I really don't trust any doctor's office to make a diagnosis of a heart attack if you are having one. Especially after my experience. This was my experience when I had my heart attack. (Please read the 'PS' at end of this post) I had a heart attack and stent implant Feb. 1998. I didn't have the typical symptoms of a heart attack. My pains were in both arms from the elbows down. I went to 4 doctors, (the company doctor, chiropractor, rhematologist and family doctor) and was told by all three that it was just pains from my Ankylosing Spondylitis (a type of rhematoid arthritis). The pains in my arms were only on being up and moving (they were throbbing pains) and would settle down and stop hurting when I set or laid down. But, when I tried to do anything the pains/throbbing in the arms were intense and I couldn't stop crying. I didn't feel a sense of doom or panic either. The arm pains started on a Tuesday at work and our Haz Mat medic at TI in Dallas was off work. The health department across the street was just about to close up. I made the drive across the street and set there 15 minutes. The doctor said there was nothing wrong and sent me home. (I saw the other 3 doctors in the following 3 days. They agreed with the TI doctor) On Saturday afternoon, the throbbing in the arms became more painful and continued while lying down, sitting so I called my husband at work in Dallas, TX. He drove home a one hour drive and took me to the hospital emergency room. ( I didn't call the ambulance, because a neighbor next door, to us had given birth to twins by the time the ambulance arrived, a year before) By the time my husband got home I was starting to have chest pains too. To me it felt like trying to give birth through the chest. Yes I had been having mild heart attacks and stent was implant. I was told that by the doctors nurse that I should have went to the emergency room the first day. And that many women die because they don't have the same symptoms as men. I know that's true. My mother died at 45 from a massive coronary. I was 47 when I had my heart attack. God willing I'll make it to 53, next month. Since then I've been back to the emergency room twice for pains in the chest that I thought were heart attacks. The first time they did an angio gram and found some mild blockage. The second time they didn't do an angiogram. That was 3 years ago. I was informed that it was most likely muscle spasms and/or the Ankylosing Spondylitis in my joints. I do have the Ankylosing Spondylitis in my ribs and all over now. I have simiar pains on a regular basis even with the drugs generic Flexeril 10mg and Celebrex 200mg once a day. I'm in the process of attempting to cut back and get off these meds. Help!!!. I was prescribed the Flexeril 3 times a day and the Celebrex 2 times a day. I have gone up to 3 days without the Celebrex, but I get so stiff and in such pain that I can barely move and my joints (even the fingers) swell up. Best Regards Tawny in TX PS. Note off subject.
