Every two weeks this newsletter will bring you news, comment and analysis

related to Natural Health Care. We shall also report upon the actions of those

who seek to undermine and try to ban free access to natural health information.

in the world (the World Health Organization) a huge battle is currently being

waged there between the forces of the pharma-cartel and those who want to

promote nutrition. With the outcome yet to be determined and for the sake of

those who cannot wait for that outcome, we need to start new, community-based,

regional projects NOW and above all with people committed to this goal.

 

The online discussion groups are designed to enable the sharing with others of

experiences about pilot projects from your country and these ideas will be

placed on our website as a resource for all to draw upon. We look forward to you

becoming an architect for the New Global Healthcare System in your country and

we are sure that you yourself will benefit from the ideas you gain from

participation in this group. We look forward to the discussions.

Over the past few weeks the Foundation has published a series of Dr Rath's open

letters in newspapers around the world, which have resulted in a huge response

from supporters. World opinion is moving rapidly against the war in Iraq and

simultaneously, in the healthcare sector, toward natural health. This is no

coincidence. Dr Rath's recent open letters have informed the world of

Legislation Watch - News on laws and organizations that affect your right to

Behind the smokescreen of war, the Codex Alimentarius Committee on Food

Labelling will meet in Ottawa between 28th April and 2nd May 2003 to discuss

health and nutrition claims. In case you were wondering what this meeting is all

about, here is a quote from the Codex document Alinorm 03/22:

 

" Nutrition claims should be consistent with national nutrition policy and

support that policy. Only nutrition claims that support national nutrition

policy should be allowed. "

 

In other words, no matter whether a claim is true and can be substantiated by

scientific evidence, if Codex member governments don't like it, you can't use

it!

Under cover of the ephedra supplement row, the FDA is seeking additional

legislative powers to regulate all natural health supplements in the USA. If

they are allowed to get away with this, your ability to learn about and use

effective, safe and side effect free natural health treatments will be

endangered. But what about DSHEA we hear you ask?

 

The only way the FDA can get these extra powers is by amending DSHEA, thereby

restricting your fundamental human rights and overturning laws that were hard

won back in the early 90's. Lodge your protests with FDA NOW and please don't

Scientists from the University of Bonn have detected 'clear indications' that

vitamin D deficiency contributes to heart failure

 

The body of research confirming the essential nature of various micronutrients

for good health continues to grow.

This news report gives the startling facts that 15 million people worldwide

suffer from heart failure and that every second patient dies within five years

of being diagnosed.

What the report doesn't say is that these deaths are preventable and are due

largely to the ineffectiveness of pharmaceutical drugs in tackling the causes of

heart failure.

The research reported upon clearly establishes a link between vitamin D

deficiency and heart failure and yet this news report fails to draw the obvious

conclusion - optimum daily intake of essential micronutrients, including vitamin

D, can help to prevent and heal this disease.

US researchers conclude that daily vitamin and mineral supplementation is

beneficial to health

 

This is positive news for natural health, even if the study was poorly designed.

The study to which the article refers used micronutrient intake levels at or

around RDA (the bare minimum necessary to prevent deficiency diseases). Even so,

the results achieved (particularly in diabetic patients) were very impressive.

Imagine what results could have been achieved with micronutrient intake levels

set closer to optimum intake levels, rather than at deficiency rectification

levels?

Study dismisses HRT as clinically useless

After all the recent press reports about HRT and the dangerous side effects of

these drugs that have resulted in a least two major trials being abandoned on

safety grounds, we now find out that it has no effect on the problems it was

designed to treat!

So, not only is HRT clinically useless, it is also downright dangerous and

ultimately lethal.

We wonder how many other drugs like this are currently being used to treat

unsuspecting victims?

Kin of cancer drug victim may sue firm

 

This report illustrates how the power and influence of the pharmaceutical

industry extends all over the world. Most countries have refused to licence

AstraZeneca's anti-cancer drug Iressa because of worries over adverse reaction

reports from the testing phase.

However, following some dubious marketing practices, the drug did get a licence

in Japan - and has so far killed more than 180 people.

We are amazed how easily governments can be persuaded to ignore critical safety

information when licensing new drugs and now we find that the FDA is considering

Iressa for a marketing licence in the USA.

A People’s Agenda

Make Health Not War

 

The early results of Dr Rath’s ‘Health For All by the Year 2020’ open letter

campaign have been truly astonishing. Not only have several countries in Africa,

the Middle East and the Far East started to adopt long overdue natural health

policies as part of their public health programmes, but even health institutions

in America, the stronghold of the pharma-cartel, are now calling for the same

thing.

 

The power of Dr Rath’s campaign is perhaps best seen in a speech given by the

CEO of Europe’s largest drug company on April 9th, 2003. In acknowledgement of

the fact that, due to Dr Rath’s campaign, the pharma-cartel can no longer

continue to deny the truth, Jean-Pierre Garnier of GlaxoSmithKline said that the

standard for-profit model would never deliver new medicines for the developing

Prozac

 

Prozac sales, along with the sales of most SSRI type drugs (Seroxat, Paxil etc.)

are in trouble due to side effects. So what can the pharma-cartel do? Find a new

use for it of course – as a treatment for cancer!

 

This strategy, if successful, will allow Big Pharma to re-launch SSRI’s into a

new disease market (their most profitable one) where the ‘risk-benefit’ ratio is

far less critical because of the severity of the disease. In other words, they

can ignore the side effects if they can re-launch Prozac as a cancer drug and,

as a bonus, reap more profits on the drug than before.

 

And they wonder why we call them the ‘business with disease.’

SARS

 

The burgeoning SARS epidemic that is being fuelled by scare stories in virtually

every newspaper around the world has a hidden benefit for the pharma-cartel that

very few commentators have mentioned.

 

The financial groups who control this industry are rubbing their hands together

in delight. The virus causing SARS is on the verge of being identified and this

will ultimately lead to the development of a vaccine. A mass immunization

programme, no doubt promoted by the WHO, will almost certainly follow.

 

Vitamins and other natural substances have already been proven to control the

spread of any known virus (see Dr Rath’s Public Health Information at:

yet the medical establishment continues to ignore the information that could

safely and effectively save many lives – at a cost much, much less than

Vitamin B6

 

Recent research in the United States has revealed that low blood levels of

vitamin B6 can lead to breaks in DNA strands and this damage can lead to

cancers. The researchers found that the protective effects of vitamin B6

increased as plasma levels went up. They found that the greatest protection from

DNA damage occurred in the study subjects when they took supplemental B6 of 10.3

mg per day.

 

Did you know that, in the United States, the current RDA figure for vitamin B6

is 2 mg per day – more than five times lower than the protective level shown in

this and many other studies?
