Guest guest
I'm not for the smallpox vaccinations--not at this point in time, anyway--but I do think some of the statements in this post regarding this disease, although they are made by " authorities, " are way off the mark--especially those that minimize the contagion possible. I'm currently reading a book about smallpox called Scourge, a rather dry bit of scientific writing (mostly about how difficult it was to eradicate the disease on a world-wide basis), and not at all in the " scare " mode, but it's clear from what I've read there that smallpox is a highly contagious disease and one that is not easily controlled. And it's killed more of the human race, in a more gruesome way, than plagues such as the Black Death ever did. Claire
