bipolar or mood swings in children/mold

I know this is several days late in following this thread but I just came

back from a trip to see my naturopath (who is in a different state), and one

of the things that came up in our discussion was that bipolar disorder is

VERY connected with mold sensitivity. Even small amounts of mold can bring

on symptoms in susceptible individuals. In fact, she felt that it was

probably the number one contributing factor to bipolar disorder, and even

other psychiatric disorders.

So many people live in houses with carpets that can harbor mold, or have

forced air systems that have mold growing in the ducts or are circulating

mold spores in the air, or have moisture problems under the sink that is a

prime breeding ground for mold, or have poor indoor air quality because of

increasingly air tight homes, or live in parts of the country that have high

mold counts because of high humidity, or live in older houses that may have

had it inside the walls for years contributing to decay, etc. I just thought

it was something to consider, in addition to diet/supplements.

As for getting rid of mold, the reason why this subject was brought up in my

discussion with my naturopath is that we recently started doing some

bathroom remodeling, and uncovered mold growing behind the bathroom tile,

and I felt that it might be a contributing factor on my health problems, and

I was trying to figure out how to deal effectively with it. She didn't have

much on suggesting ways to get rid of it, other than to recommend ozone,

which I'm going to look into, and some homeopathic drops for improving my

immune reaction to molds. According to my naturopath, mold is also very

strongly associated with schizophrenia.

I'm currently reading Desperation Medicine, by Dr. Richie Shoemaker, and he

discusses neurotoxins from mold. I haven't gotten to the part in the book

where he discusses dealing with it, yet. Does anyone else have any

suggestions for dealing with mold problems?
