Guest guest
Excellent work, Frank! You're one smart cookie! There is a great wealth of anecdotal information, which is always dismissed by the 'Experts', yet it points to the inconsistancies you're drawing our attention to. Over a long period of time, I've observed there's a poor correlation of CD4's to wellness, general vitality, & absence or presence of opportunistic infections. The protease inhibitor drugs have reduced viral load measures below detectable levels, raised CD4's to high levels, in people I chat with regularly. I watch them, ask about their lab work. I know a guy whose CD's are in the 700 range today (raised by the drugs), undetectable viral load, and he has an ongoing, unresponsive sinus infection, over the last few months. I know another in a similar situation. I know people with low CD4's (below 200), who have lots of energy, no health problems, with viral loads in the relatively low tens of thousands. What I have to conclude, is that the CD4's & viral loads, used to convince us of drug efficacy, may hold a fair amount of bunk. To be fair, there is some correlation, just enough to keep us going with the measures. I worry, that by the time all this finally gets sorted out, 50 years will have passed, with more dead. Meanwhile, if we follow the money, the labs & pharmaceuticals benefit immensely from staying the course. Our local Mayor (previously a Coroner), stated that individual costs are at $130,00.00 per year for PWA's. Seems high, but he may be factoring in all costs, besides medications (these were once calculated at $30,000.00). AIDS is an Industry!! In my city, it's a significant employer. I know a couple people in University, who plan their careers in this field. Personally, this disgusts me. The system we're holding together is a fraud. A cure would end a lot of careers. The " head honcho " of the AIDS Industry here is a dermatologist. I'd like to see the time when he has to return to nonspecific rashes and acne. Here, we do have people doing unofficial Trials with AIDS and alternative medicines, all the Studies are small, and solid conclusions can be difficult, but trends can be evident. Maybe you can do something at your end, and keep us all informed. Steve
