If you read nothing more than the article on microwave ovens this post will

have been worth it and could well save someone from being very badly burned

and maybe scarred for life.

Service & MOT

> We take care of our cars, don’t we? We can’t afford for them to be off

> the road because they are an integral part of our busy lives. Of course,

> cars are expensive to run………petrol, insurance, repairs etc and of course

> the essential M.O.T.

>

> Why don’t we do the same things with our bodies? If we get sick and are

> unable to function at our best our quality of life goes downhill rapidly.

>

>

>

> Many people look after their car better than they look after their body.

> They make poor food choices because they do not understand what a well

> balanced diet is. Who can blame them?

>

> Almost daily we hear reports about the latest “miracle†diet or food,

> through magazines, books, and from friends and diet “expertsâ€. But the

> information is often so contradictory and confusing that it’s difficult to

> know who’s right.

>

> It all boils down to metabolic individuality. We are all different! If

> there was a diet that was universally healthy then it would have been

> discovered a long time ago. Doctors, nutritionists, vitamins, drugs and

> the like do not heal your body…………remember that “Only The Body Can

Heal

> â€â€¦â€¦â€¦â€¦.but it needs the right tools for the job!

>

> If you do not eat the correct foods for the way your body is functioning

> (i.e. your “metabolic typeâ€), how can you expect to perform well? This

> would be akin to putting diesel petrol in your new unleaded Mini Cooper!

>

>

>

> If you dont know your metabolic type then there has never been a better

> time to discover it!

>

> The Metabolic Typing Centre is offering the following discounts for MT

> programs from 1st - 31st March.

>

> Intermediate Program

> The cost of the Intermediate Program is reduced to £60 for any 2 people who

> book and pay for the program together.

>

> Advanced Program Retests

> For anyone who has previously tested using the Advanced Program at any time

> and would like to run a full retest, pay only £85 which will include a 30

> minute consultation.

>

> Advanced program (1st Test)

> Advanced program is reduced to £135 and includes consultation and 4 weeks

> support.

>

>

>

>

> Service & MOT - Special thanks to Roland Mensikovas for the following:

>

> Apply this same thinking to your exercise program. You are unique and your

> exercise program would not be the same as your neighbour's. Poorly designed

> exercise programs can lead to muscle imbalances and injury.

>

> People often ask me what the best exercise is for a particular muscle or

> muscle group My advice almost always the same…………â€THINK BIGâ€!

>

> Most gym goers go far too deep in their quest for the perfect shape and

> form of a particular part of the body. They forget the bigger picture. What

> I’m trying to say is that most of us try too hard to shape one independent

> muscle instead of using movements that will involve not only that muscle,

> but many others too.

>

> For example, a “leg extension†exercise targets the quadriceps, (the four

> muscles on the front of the thigh). That’s it….really….that’s about as

> much as that machine will do. Now if you perform a free weight squat, or

> lunge, you will use muscles from the top of your head all the way to your

> big toe muscles! It doesn’t really matter that you are using 80kgs on a leg

> extension machine and only 20-30 kg. during the free squat………..what

> matters is that you will involve every muscle in your body during a squat

> or lunge. This ultimately means that you expend more energy and if your

> goal is to assist weight loss then you will fair better by performing 4-6

> bigger exercises than spending an hour at the gym performing 8-12 exercises

> for each possible muscle.

>

> The most important thing on your journey to health and happiness is an

> exercise program that addresses the unique needs of the one and only you.

> A thorough evaluation will prepare you for the obstacles that everyday life

> throws at you.

>

> Going to the gym and exercising like crazy with a body that is misaligned

> and poorly functioning can cause injuries and orthopaedic problems. Choose

> to train under the supervision of a qualified exercise specialist, or

> obtain an individually designed exercise program to address your own

> personal imbalances.

>

> Don’t cut corners when your health and happiness is at stake!

>

> Roland Mensikovas is offering a 20% reduction for Postural Analysis and

> Postural Assessment from 1st - 31st March.

>

> Postural analysis - 60min. 20% discount

> length/tension assessment including: 1st Rib Angle, Forward Head Carriage,

> Lumbar Curve, Thoracic Curve, Lumbar Flexion, Thoracic and Lumbar

> Extension, Oblique Muscle Balance, Lumbo-Pelvic Rhythm Assessment,

Still Using A Microwave?

>

> The microwave has become an integral part of our fast food society. However

> there are some health risks associated with its use. Studies performed in

> Germany show that microwaved food is associated with a drop in lymphocyte

> and haemoglobin levels in the blood, along with an increase in white blood

> cell counts. Increased white blood cells indicate an immune response, i.e.

> the body is fighting an infection. Some experts have linked the increased

> reliance on microwaved foods to the sharp increase in autoimmune diseases.

> Microwaving food kills almost all the enzymes that are present and these

> enzymes contain all the biochemical catalysts that contain its life force.

>

>

> Special thanks to Chris Hardisty for passing on the following:

> " I feel that the following is information that anyone who uses a microwave

> oven to heat water should know. My 26-year old son decided to have a cup

> of coffee. He took a cup of water and put it in the microwave to heat it

> up (something that he had done numerous times before).

>

> I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he told me he wanted to

> bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he removed

> the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted that the water

> was not boiling, but instantly the water in the cup " blew up " into his

> face. The cup remained intact until the threw it out of his hand but all

> the water had flown out into his face due to the build up of energy. His

> whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his face,

> which may leave scarring. He also may have lost partial sight in his left

> eye. While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to him stated

> that this is a fairly common occurrence, and water (alone) should never be

> heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this manner, something s

> hould be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy such as a wooden stir

> stick, tea bag, etc. It is however a much safer choice to boil the water

> in a tea kettle. Please pass this information on to friends and family.

>

> General Electric's response: " The e-mail that you received is correct.

> Microwave water and other liquids do not always bubble when they reach

> boiling point. They can actually get superheated and not bubble at all.

> The superheated liquid will bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or

> when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it. To prevent this

> from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than

> two minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave

> for thirty seconds before moving it or adding anything into it. I hope

> this help. Should you need any further assistance, please contact us.

>

>

>

> Response from a scientist:

>

>

>

> " Thanks for the microwave warning. I have seen this happen before. It is

> caused by a phenomenon known as super heating. It can occur anytime water

> is heated and will particularly occur is the vessel that the water is

> heated in is new, or when heating a small amount of water (less than half

> a cup), What happens is that the water heats faster than the vapour

> bubbles can form. If the cup is very new then it is unlikely to have small

> surface scratches inside it that provide a place for the bubbles to form.

> As the bubbles cannot form and release some of the heat that has built up,

> the liquid does not boil, and the liquid continues to heat up well past its

> boiling point. What then usually happens is that the liquid is bumped or

> jarred, which is just enough of a shock to cause the bubbles to rapidly

> form and expel the hot liquid. The rapid formation of bubbles is also why

> a carbonated beverage spews when opened after having been shaken "

>

>

>

>

>

> If you pass this on you could very well save someone from a lot of pain and

> suffering.

>

>

>

> Better still, dump the microwave oven!

> To Make Coconut Cream

> Each coconut supplies 6-8 ozs of cream. Do not use coconuts that are

> cracked discoloured or watermarked. Find the coconut eye that is soft and

> pierce it with an ice pick. Pour the milk into a glass to drink when

> thirsty. Tap the rest of the shell gently with a hammer for 2 minutes to

> loosen the meat from the shell. Then crack open the coconut at the end that

> is opposite to the end you have pierced. Remove the meat from the shell

> with an oyster knife and cut into strips about 1/4 " - 1/2 " wide and any

> length. Push the meat through a juicer (not centrifugal type). Keep the

> coconut cream and the coconut milk separate. It will keep for 7 days in

> small glass jars in the fridge or liquidise 1 tbspn lime juice to each 7ozs

> of coconut cream and it will keep for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
