Hi Wayne,

Thanks,

I believe what makes it so hard to discuss poitics is, it takes on a

my team against your team, as opposed to what is the truth, and what

is political claptrap. As you may guess, I do not have a high opinion

of most politicians.

I also think that the quote from Linus Pauling on our group's

homepage is appropriate.

" Do not let either the medical authorities or the politicians mislead

you. Find out what the facts are, and make your own decisions about

how to live a happy life and how to work for a better world. " - Linus

Pauling

It is very hard to put aside labels, like republican, democrat,

liberal, conservative, libertarian, etc. with which most people

indentify with. If you swallow whole what any political group tries

to make you believe (public relations, manipulation), without some

critical thinking, it borders on the impossible.

As to your other subject, I think that the whole prion issue is a

very, very important one. I hope that you will share your thoughts

and findings on the prions with the group. It is a subject that

interests me greatly.

Yes, I can how many people might think that also, but you nor I would

never know that is why they didn't answer.

The only way we will know, is if they do answer, even if it is

similar to someone else's opinion.

So, everyone, please try and answer with something.

thanks,

Frank

Frank--

I'm fairly new here and enjoy all the sharing. Thank you for having this

group. Before I give my opinion, I just wanted to say I thought it was

very kind of you to inquire as to our opinions.... it is your list and I am

respectful of your rules. I believe limiting political discussion is best,

but I can also use my delete button.

I prefer that politics be left to a site which discusses politics, not

this one.

No, I am definitely not afraid to voice my opinions, in this or any climate.

No, I am not confused by conflicting issues involved. It is just that

there are so many issues around a partaicular topic, many of which are

not expressed by the speaked for many reasons, ignorance being only one

of them.

Many people to whom I have spoken are ignorant of many issues, and if

they are aware of some issues, not the underlying ones.

I very much prefer to keep politics off this list. Maybe, just maybe,

include only those political issues which affect health - like CODEX.

my humble opinion, politics have always been discussed on this group - to

a lesser degree, and, if it was decided on a poll (good idea), I would vote to

keep politics out of this health support group, i.e. to keep it the way it is

(if you see what I mean).

Re: ATTENTION ALL GROUP MEMBERS

Frank, I really appreciate your efforts on this board, and I hope you will

continue for a long long time.

I believe that political discussions here should only involve matters that

have a direct impact on the health expectations of the people. Governmental

limits on the right of the public to obtain vitamins and supplements should be

discussed and opposed. I'm a little uneasy about about discussions dealing with

environmental regulations. For instance, We had some problems getting state

permits for our organic fertilizers, due to the arsenic content found by the

lab. When our chemist pointed out, and proved, that the native soil contained

more arsenic than our fertilizer did, we got our permits. Sometimes we just

don't know all the facts, and it's easy to let political bias take over the

discussion.

I'm one of these misfits that believes that all doctors are not bad, nor are

all pharma drugs. I was very nearly killed by one doctor, saved by another, who

then sent me to another who insisted, to no avail, on taking out my colon to

heal my Crohn's. My wife is bipolar who has had her life restored by a

pharmaceutical drug, after another doctor almost destroyed her with shock

treatments. Political discussions dealing with doctors and drug company matters

can become extreme rather quickly.

If we allow discussion of political matters on this board, I believe it should

be very limited. Facts are liable to be overwhelmed by assumptions colored by

political orientation.

that really meant was no discussion of politics except as it affects

a health issue.

foods, air, water, sunlight, polution, etc. The list goes on and on.

It impacts most areas of our lives. Politics should be for the common

good, but most of the time what it really means is dollars (or other

money) in someone's pockets.

>

> It is very hard to view or discuss these issues due to everyones

own personal beliefs or economic interests. To further complicate the

problem, I think that most people's belief systems are programmed or

manipulated by special interest groups or other outside forces much

more so than any internal thought processes. Although everyone thinks

of himself as an independent free thinker, it is the opposite I

believe that is far more true.

without it degenerating into a low level, partisan free for all of

knee jerk reactions? It could quickly descend to name calling and

destructive behaviour. We have already had some of that even though

the posts were discarded before they made it to the group.

Unfortunately the hard truth is 900+ responses is a lot of email to have to

read. A poll would be the most beneficial way to approach this matter.

Everyone will have their own reasons for not being able to sit and read 900+

emails. My reason is I am not physically able to sit for that long a time

and it would take me away from reading an email that may be more helpful to

myself and my family on Gettingwell.

>

Yes, I care how politics are discussed here. Is there such a thing as

policing posted messages concerning politics.

>

> The majority of you have no opinions? or are apathetic?

I feel this is a little bit rude. Of course we all have opinions. There is

a time to speak and a time to listen.

>

> Are you afraid to voice your true feelings in todays climate?

Yes, I am. I have a tendency to be extremely passionate about my views and

when I jump in a mud puddle I don't care who gets splashed. I've learned to

be careful about my mud puddles.

> Are you confused by the conflicting issues involved?

Absolutely. I'm new on the Gettingwell scene and just recently realized how

my doctors were slowing killing me. I am one of the unfortunate few who

received not one but two tainted epidural steroid injections in my spine. 3

people died. Many are left very sick including myself. The shot was tainted

with a mold. So yes. I'm confused. But as with all things, when my year

and a day is up I will be more prolific at studying.>

> Are we to ignore all political issues and pretend they don't exist?

Not if we are of sound mind and physically able to take them on.

My thoughts are to do polls. My thoughts are to have political statements

clarified as to how they relate to Gettingwell. My thoughts are to use a

touch of kindness when addressing ones mistakes and misguided conceptions.

My thoughts are that a member introduction file would be helpful in

recognizing the experts from the ones in their year and a day of study.

I'll end by saying thank you to all the folks posting. I've gleamed a lot on

the GI Candidas (I hope I spelled that right). After going cold turkey on 9

different prescribed medications 4 months ago due to the sickness incurred by

the tainted shot, my entire system is a mess. I have gained improvement with

some of the advice. I'm attempting to locate a MD that will work with a

Nutritionist and more homeopathic or natural remedies. I'll not read all the

responses titled Re: ATTENTION ALL GROUP MEMBERS. I'll file them and read

them as I can.

Blessings,

Dee

I agree with Rena and Barbara, no politics unless it pertains to a health

issue. Good health groups are hard to find, political groups are in

abundance.

Have a great week everyone!

My opinion of this politic thing is to limit it to the necessity of tying it to

the health issues at hand. Otherwise, I feel only health issues need be

discussed in this group. I think that Frank is doing a great job of presenting

articles as well as others. It has been said that there are two things that you

don't discuss and that is Religion and Politics. There are as many opinions out

there as there are people. Health issues and/or subjects can be enlightening and

helpful for our neighbor/s.

Frank, This is a wonderful source of health regaining information that is

not easily obtained elsewhere. Political discussions are easy to obtain

almost anywhere, even those related to health matters. Edith
