Take A Stand For Organic ______ The founders of Horizon Organic started work on the organic standards over twelve years ago, well before the word organic was ever discussed or defined in political circles. Now the same freshly implemented government standards we fought so hard for may be compromised and rendered essentially useless. Here's What Happened: While most of us were sleeping during the late hours of February 13, a last minute, seemingly " small and insignificant " provision was added to the huge $397 Federal spending bill. This provision would permit livestock producers, depending on cost and availability of feed, to label their meat as " organic " even if the animals' diets consist partly or entirely of conventional feed rather than organic grains.
