Any advice on how to get rid of a cough?

My Son age 16 returned from a Christmas vacation of two weeks at the

Bakersfield area of California.

 

He has been healthy, no cavities.

 

However that area is in the middle of agricultural fields- Oranges,

walnuts, grapes.

 

He caught a Cold and one month later STILL has a dry cough.

 

Any advice on how to get rid of a cough?

Hope he didn't catch any bad habbits :<) I used to think that I needed to

treat the symptom eg. " what to take for a cough etc " but now I know that its

the bodys way of trying to get rid of an offending organism, chemical,

substance, growth, etc. It seems this year many people are reporting

lingering symptoms after catching the flu and even colds, its just taking

longer for the body to adjust/recover. Maby check for something that boosts

his immune system. There are plenty of people on this list with information
