Guest guest
On another list, someone has made certain claims for chocolate which I feel to be mis-information from spin doctors, or perhaps mis-remembered by the person writing the post because he loves his chocolate. The list owner wants me to substantiate my opinions before he will allow me to dialog about the topic on list. The claims which were made are as follows: > we hear so much to-day and for a few years that chololate, > from the roasted cocoa bean, is a health food, very high in > anti-oxidants, and so good for cardiovascular problems and > other problems > LPI research associate Silvina Lotito, Ph.D. who tells > about the medicinal properties of cocoa being known to the > ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations, and was used to > treat gut, liver, heart, and kidney complaints, as well as > infection and inflamation. They attributed longevity to it > as well as aphrodisiac properties. Also cocoa and cocoa- > derived products, especially dark chocolate ( more roasting > ?- Eric ), are good sources of flavonoids which protect the > blood lipids and even may keep artherosclerosis at bay in > humans who regularily consume cocoa products. I have read > that, while one may be concerned about the sugar content of > the chocolate, one report said that for some reason the > combination of the chocolate and sugar negates the sugar > problems, ( if there should be any ). Can anyone point me to sites talking about the negative impact of chocolate? Alobar
