I also mention whether the website has info not in the text of the article I am quoting (hotlinks, etc.) b) I locate a juicy paragraph or three within the paragraph & copy that just below my little introduction. In journalism, I believe this is called a pull-quote. c) Then I copy the entire article so it is fully in my journal, even if the referencing website is later moved or taken down. d) Finally, I put the referencing URL (if I have it) as a footnote showing where I got the info from. Something like what I do for my journal would be handy & useful on this list, although I do recognize it takes work & effort. If someone does not have the time to do something like this, I'd much rather have the whole article than just a synopsis. Alobar --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Just a few minutes per post and only from those who regularly post long hunks of websites. I assume those who post long essays actually read thru what they are about to post, so wring a brief review and locating some good text for a pull-quote should take only a few minutes, once one gets into the habit of thinking about possible pull-quotes when reading thru each essay the first time. My suggestions take less than 5 minutes per long article posted. As an example, here is a page from my LiveJournal http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=alobar & itemid=288386 which shows how I wrote a very brief intro, followed by a pull-quote, then the entire text of an article which originally came from this list.
