Guest guest
Please forgive the Posting to several Groups; This has been done because Salmon has been discussed at some time on most of them. Although Salmon is high in the Essential Fatty Acids " farmed " Salmon may not be as nutritious as " wild " Salmon. Also your Market may have wild Salmon only a few times a year. Recently Wal-Mart had some frozen wild Salmon. An as has been said before; Canned Salmon with the word Alaska embossed on the lid is wild, it is canned on a ship in the Ocean. The two kinds; Pink and Red are different species. > D. Telegraph 28.1.03 " WHY PINKER SALMON MAY BE A RISK " The European > Commission will lower the permitted amount of the food colouring > Canthaxanthin from 1st December. This food additive builds up in the RETINA > OF THE HUMAN EYE & affects sight. The amount allowed in salmon feed will be > lowered from 80mgs a kilo to 25mg a kilo. It will be reduced to 8mgs for > hen feed. This colouring is used to give salmon a pink-red colour & to > colour egg yolks to the yellow shade food producers want. Natural wild > salmon are pink from eating shrimps etc. but farmed salmon has > Canthaxanthin colouring added to its feed to stop it looking grey. The excerpt is from the " gettingwell " list. It got there from a British publication. Placing " WHY PINKER SALMON MAY BE A RISK " in a search will provide more on this subject. Regards, Lorenzo --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
