Depression itself may bring about perimenopause prematurely, says Bernard Harlow of Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and lead author of the research in the latest Archives of General Psychiatry. He found that women who took antidepressants were three times as likely to enter perimenopause as those who did not.
