Guest guest
I use a combination of passionflower, scullcap and valerian, when it's worse, but otherwise, a daily dosage of jut the passionflower and scullcap usually keeps it in check. Guest guest
<<<snipped>>>You mentioned hops/passionflower for muscle pain. Do you get good relief from that? Oh yes I do get lots of relief from my tinctures of hops/passionflower that I make. My mother who also has MS goes through it as well as my sister. My father only recently started using and has found great relief of his back pain at night. This helps you sleep but also relieves the pain of the muscles. I just use equal parts of the herb into vodka for 8 weeks shaking every day, then strain and add a bit of distilled water. It works wonders. :0) Elise Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire. 2. Guest guest
Chris, as another thought on MS, I would think that the first change to make in diet would be from inorganic to organic foods - I think that this is a must in all health issues as those pesticides & growth hormones do untold damage to our health. Guest guest
Roy Swank M.D., Ph.D. first began treating MS patients with nutrition in 1948 and did so until he retired at the age of 91 in the year 2000. During this time he published numerous research articles in prestigious medical journals. He has done long term follow ups, of up to 35 years, for patients on his program. His result was to stop the further progression of the illness. His most recent dietary recommendations for people with MS include: -Consume less than 15 grams of saturated fat daily (this involves minimizing high fat animal products) -Cook only with unsaturated oils -Supplement essential fatty acids in the form of fish or flax oil -Consume whole grain cereal products avoiding refined grains -Consume a wide variety of fruits and vegetables daily (preferably organic) He has a book called 'The Multiple Sclerosis Diet Book: A Low-Fat Diet for the Treatment of M.S.' Quotes from Dr. Swank: " Patients who limited their saturated fat intake to less than 20 grams a day no longer showed the expected deterioration from the disease. " " We found if patients started early, before they had disability, and we placed them on the diet at that point, and they followed the low fat diet very carefully, they had a 95% of a good result--in other words they remain free from further disability.
