Re: Fwd: Milk Thistle

Hi Frank,

There's another herb for the liver that you might want to look into,

bupleurum.

Its used quite a bit in TCM.

In TCM the energetic Liver (of which the physical liver is a part of)

comes into play with the emotion of anger.

I read somewhere that if one is the type to hold anger in, the

bupleurum with give them the encouragement to express themself

and

if one is the type to express their anger too easily, bupleurum will

show them it just doesn't matter.

I take a Planetary Formulas preparation (Michael Tierra's company)

called " Bupleurum Liver Cleanse " .

It contains principaly bupleurum root, dandelion root extract and milk

thistle seed extract plus quite a few other herbs.

I've used it on and off for a couple years. More on if I notice myself

leaning towards " going postal " (btw, it will be 30 years at the P.O.

come this May so I know what " going postal " really means.)

I've tried much the same formula from Chinese sources but I've read

that there's alway the risk of pollution with herbal products produced

in China.

As for milk thistle, I buy milk thistle tea in bags and whenever I'm

making a soup that will simmer a long time I drop in a couple bags. It

hasn't much of a taste that it can compete with onions and carrots

(read that as saying, as a drinking tea its rather boring) so what

would I have too loose.

btw, artichoke is in the thistle family (obvious by its leaves).

Curiously, I can do milk thistle peacefully but artichoke in pill form

is too powerful a detox for me and makes my face breakout.
