Has anyone read these or know anyone who was helped by this program? > >Ken Ken, I, too, fairly recently read " The Schwarzbein Principle " , and found it to be VERY useful and educating. I didn't know she had a second book out... what's the name? See, all my life I (like so many) heard all about the nastiness of eating fat... I did " all the right stuff " according to a eating low fat diet, etc. And I always had a very fast metabolism, used to be too skinny as a matter of fact and worked VERY hard on getting from 98lbs. up to 130lbs. (I'm 5'7 " , so I was pretty weak, etc., from being so skinny!). But, the last two years, I've gained another 50lbs., and NEVER thought I'd be overweight!!! Not to mention, chronic fatigue, constant hunger, etc.! My fiance told me several times to eat more fat and less carbs, but of course I didn't believe him... I mean, what did HE know as opposed to all the " professionals " out there who'd said " low fat! " all my life??? However, my fiance's mom gave me " The Schwarzbein Principle " after she'd read it, and once I saw it explained scientifically (yet simply to any layman who doesn't understand medical terms; I do, as I come from a long line of medical pro's in my family, but many people don't), it just made SO MUCH SENSE to me! Of course, I had to hear " I told you so " from my fiance (LOL), but then again, he'd heard it from his mom while she was reading the book! (Furthermore, her husband has prostate cancer which has metabolized, stopped treatment several years ago... they both have changed their eating habits according to Dr. Schwarzbein, and not only are they healthier all around, but Baird's cancer and overall health is much better than it has been in YEARS!) Anyway! I haven't followed her diet to a " T " (still working on changes; change and getting rid of old nasty habits IS a hard thing, and I'm going a step at a time), but I've mady many changes... more protein, less carbs (and better carbs), good fats as opposed to bad fats, etc. And although the scale hasn't changed (which makes sense; muscle and bone mass weighs more than fat), I no longer look pregnant (yes, I had a few people ask me when I was " expecting " !), I've lost two dress/jeans sizes in just OVER THE LAST MONTH, and best of all, I have more energy that is sustaining!!! **And I am NOT " dieting " by ANY means, either!** I rarely even weigh myself anymore now... I don't care about the scale, I care about how I feel, and how my clothes fit! I've NEEDED muscle and bone mass, as 8 yrs. ago I was very sick and lost a LOT of weight rapidly (approx. 30lbs. in about a month, YIKES!) right before my hysterectomy (that's how/when I got too skinny), and when you lose weight rapidly, you don't just lose fat; you also lose muscle and bone mass! **Furthermore, my mood swings have improved SO MUCH that I am finally weaning myself off of the psych med's (for Bipolar), one at a time... with success! After 12+ years on med's, this is wonderful!** ***All I can say is, I recommend this book to anyone and everyone! This isn't just about weight loss... it's about changing your entire body chemistry for the better! Insulin, all hormones, cholesterol, brain activity, GOOD energy, MOODS... overall health, PERIOD!*** Anyone who wants info on the book, here it is: " The Schwarzbein Principle " by Diana Schwarzbein, M.D. ISBN #: 1-55874-680-3 (From front cover): Lose body fat and transform body composition Improve metabolism Prevent and correct chronic conditions and diseases Reverse accelerated metabolic aging Stoy yo-yo dieting Quit addictions and food cravings Cure depression and mood swings This woman is the kind of M.D. that we want... she's against putting drugs into your system as much as humanly possible, she thoroughly believes that it's NUTRITION, not DRUGS, that restores our health (physical AND mental)!!! And time and again, her patients have proven her theory into what I'd call " fact " ... I know that " science " doesn't like to use the word " fact " anymore, but you get my point. My (future) in-laws have shown that what she says works, and now I've shown it, too. This is one M.D. that I really like! ~~ Kat ~~ ________________ The NEW Netscape 7.0 browser is now available.
