Guest guest
Morning Morton, >> Interesting. I keep emails which I think are worthy of keeping - not nearly as many as you - but I have reached a point where I cannot find which I am looking for. Is there any >you use for quickly accessing an email or topic in one? Yes, I can find most things I want to find. The mailer I use has a search feature that will find " text strings " or " find messages " . I can search a single mailbox or select several. Then..... I can search by From, To, Subject, or body, or several other options. The only think it will not do is allow complex search strings and logical statements in the search. One day I might get hard headed and write a program that would do all I want in a search engine for my message databases. I have about 30,000 text files on my drive, plus all the mail files, plus many html and pdf files. There exist an old utility that will search the complete drive for a text string. It is called TS.exe I don't believe it will search binary files, only ASCII files which include Word Files, text files and html files, and some other types of data files. Of course the key to finding things is a well organized directory structure. > I use Netscape. Netscape may have some of these features, not sure.
