What to do with Ironweed?

I have a large patch of Ironweed growing along a stream in back of my

apartment complex. My mom, who specializes in growing and selling

Michigan wetlands plants, is the one who identified it for me. However,

she does not believe in anyone but a " qualified health care professional "

recommending uses, doses, or having anything to do with harvesting

plants for medicinal reasons.

 

I haven't been able to find any useful information on this plant, and

there's enough that it's coming out my ears! Does anyone here have

any information on its uses?
