I have been having these really bad headaches and my eye twitches a lot mostly when I am at home or think about it. I am looking for a place to live I can afford because I am in a volatile relationship that continues to get worse. You see my husband is an alcoholic and well it is not good. But anyway I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on anything I could take to relieve some of the tension? Guest guest
Hi Debbie, The best remedy I could possibly think of at the moment is for you to find some shelter, anywhere, so as to de-fuse and separate yourself from the tension of an abusive relationship. This will do more for you than any other remedy can. I realize this is not what you were asking or looking for but I feel it is the best remedy considering your situation. Are there any women's shelters in your area? Do you have any friends you can go and stay with for awhile? Family? It is most important to get out and separate your self from this situation. It will make it much easier for you to look at your options and will, hopefully, get your hubby into thinking mode and maybe some help. My prayers go with you. Otherwise, where do your headaches originate? Neck? Temples? Back of the head? Top of the head? Front of the head? Which eye twitches? Do you know why your eye twitches? It is interesting that your headaches occur mostly at home where the abuse happens mostly. Correct? Getting out might solve the headaches. Then again, maybe not. But if not at least you will not be under such great stress and tension. Be in peace and light, Debbie and try to get away from the situation ASAP. Guest guest
> relieve some of the tension? my situations have never been as stressful as what you describe, but I do get headaches from stress. Here's what I do. Lavender! candles, bath gel, and linnen powder to put on my pillowcase. Chamomille! I'm not a big tea drinker (though you can get chammomile tea in almost any grocery store, now), so I just use the homeopathic tablets. hot baths heat pack on my neck and shoulders. I have even put one on my head before (which I'm sure is not the best thing, but sometimes it's all that works) classical music (usually baroque: Bach, Telemann, Vivaldi, etc.) alcohol. I know it sounds strange, but sometimes 1 serving of alcohol can force my muscles to relax enough to reduce the tension and therefore the headache. That was the clue to my MD that the headaches were stress related. She said it was not that uncommon that a beer would stop the headache when nothing else would. I use it as a last resort....in hopes that it's not as bad as it seems. If I do 2+ of these, I will see a difference in my headaches. asprin, tylenol, advil, etc. never can touch one of these kinds of headaches for me....I have to use more " natural " and " environmental " methods. hth, Lori ===== Lori Deana Salter Luza ....to be true to ourselves, and to those within and without our circle... -Shirley Kreasan Strout - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup. Guest guest
I am not making fun of you, nor am I slamming you…. I use to use just 1 serving of alcohol for my stress problems. Yea, that 1 serving was a 3 gallon cup and then get really stressed. – I am glad you said you only use it as a last resort. There are some folks in the world that cannot or will not use C2H5OH. Guest guest
Dear Debbie, It is not easy to advise on these kinds of situations as it is difficult to put the full story on a list like this, and there are lots of questions that many of us might ask. If you feel you are truly in danger, you should get out ASAP, and land wherever you can. Most likely the headaches are as a result of this relationship, but I'd never make a call on that one without more data. Find a friend who you know is interested in your survival and take it from there. Love, Doc PS. The way you sign your posts, "Just me Debbie" indicates to me that your self esteem needs a little boosting, (may be?) ;o) You need a friend hon, and you are always welcome to call me. Guest guest
Debbie, My heart goes out to you. I recently had a lot of tension and found that a long sock filled with rice and heated in the microwave a little at a time helped. The weight of the warm sock helped me keep my shoulders off my ears. Rubbing lavender essential oil (just a drop) at your temples and the back of your neck or behind your ears may help. A peppermint and lavender mix is also something you might try. A recent health store I was in sold a peppermint/lavender mix in a little tube that had a roller ball like deodorant. It is the size of a lipstick and can be used like accupressure. My daughter has had measurable benefits using this for tension headaches and other headaches. Passionflower tea, tincture or capsules might help you relax. Visualization can help as well. When these thoughts come to you at unwanted times, " store " them. Mentally put them in a garbage can and put the lid on tight. I put mine in a cave and cover them with black rocks. Now, with practice, all I have to do is think " black rocks " and leave these thoughts buried until I have a better time to deal with them. I wish you all the best and that you can find a good support system. Roxanne Roxanne J. Guest guest
Thank you so very much. And since I am not real knowledgeable on drying herbs is there a sertain way of doing it? Just Me Debbie
Guest guest
Debbie, You can do quite a bit with the peppermint in your back yard. You can use it fresh and make it into a tea or dry it and do the same. You can dry it and cover it with oil, let it sit a week or so, shake it every day, strain it and add more peppermint and repeat the sitting, shaking and straining until you get the desired scent. This may take quite a while. For the bath, make a strong tea and add it to your bath water. Dry it and make a little pillow, four inches by six inches, for aromatherapy use. I can't tell you if any of this will help your headaches but you could use a little pampering and the relaxation and doing something just for you might. Roxanne Roxanne J. Guest guest
Debbie, you can make peppermint tincture with the peppermint and 100% vodka or everclear. How to Make a TinctureI'm going to keep this very simple. There are many variations, but the following will get you through just about any situation when it comes to making any tincture you wish. And there won't be any better tinctures out there.1. On the New Moon, fill a blender half full with a bunch of herbs.2. Pour on top of the herbs 100 Proof Vodka so that the liquid settles 2 inches above the top level of the herbs in the blender.3. Blend the hell out of it for about a minute.4. Pour the mixture into a glass Mason jar and go store it in a dark place.5. At least once a day, shake your mixture.6. After two weeks (on the Full Moon), press your mixture using a Beer Press, a Potato Ricer and an organic cotton canvas clothe, or the fanciest press you can find and money can buy ;o)7. Store your tincture in brown bottles and keep out of the light.Deb, you can strain it and just press it out by hand,,, I use a spoon and mash down. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Ok, use apple cider vinegar - when you have this tincture made you rub it on your temples, back of neck etc. -- keep your eyes closed as the "fumes" will sting and make your eyes water. Thank You I know oh to well I have no self esteem. That has always been a problem for me I don't think I even really know what it is. I have a friend I stay with now and then. And there are times I don't know what I would do without him. He is always helping me to see that I shouldn't put myself down. And slowly it is helping. And I did move forward a little more with getting myself out of here. Just wish I could find the confidence. But I am working on that to. I have been trying to deal with issues that have been weighing heavy on my soul. And I pray a lot to my higher power. I know he is always there to help guide me. I have this feeling I need to go to the book store. I love books. And there has to be one to help me with my self esteem. My Doctor has had me on Prozac for several years and something inside me tells me there is another solution to that. Plus I have been finding it hard to control my anger with my husband. ( soon X) He seems to know how to push my buttons. But then I guess I have taught him which ones they are. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your inputs it always helps to vent and to get other suggestions to.

Guest guest
Recently back from a speicalist for migraines, I learned several new things. That migraines are genetic and found on chromosome 19 (I thought it was all in my head!!!) and that they stem from seratonin uptake being disturbed in some way. Ok, what I wanted to get at was this--since I'm still a nursing mom, I wasn't able to take the low dosage muscle relaxer that was prescribed (like I wanted to anyway) BUT I was given an alternative--magnesium. With further reading, magnesium really helps with muscle relaxing (it's what's given to mom's in pre-term labor to calm the uterus), helps lower blood pressure, and helps with keeping types 1 & 2 diabetes under control. The recommended dosage for adults is from 350mg to 400mg a day. Not that it's a cure all because we are all different. I've battled migraines for over 20 years (and I'm not even 40 yet!!), have tried everything from herbs to homeopathy, and, well, when pain is chronic, one tends to check out options. I have noticed a difference in my brick-like shoulder/neck muscles--easier to massage without breaking my fingers!!! but I don't know if it's the magnesium or the exercises I'm doing (walking 4+ miles 3-4 days a week). I have a printout of all kinds of migraine related web sites if anyone is interested. Also, read up on magnesium and see if it's for you.
