Guest guest
Doc, I have found this book in several places on the web but the price range is so extreme. Amazon.com has used ones for $140., another place has a used one (The Chemistry of Man-2nd edition) for $49.00 and Dr. Jensen's website has them for $39.99. Which one do I want? Guest guest
This sort of thing happens all the time in the used book market. The difficult thing is trying to determine if the condition of the book will be acceptable once you get it. I tend to deal with live, independent bookstores when confronted with a sensitive situation like this. My favorite is of course the Tattered Cover in Denver. They take very good care of customers. Not sure if there is one like that in your area. On Wed, 5 Jun 2002 23:03:20 EDT Tohelpwilliam wrote: Doc, I have found this book in several places on the web but the price range is so extreme. Guest guest
I almost bought the $49. book but was afraid of the condition. I wondered if the less expensive ones were abriged editions or if the more expensive ones were more valuable for some reason. I'll probably look around town but I don't think I'll find one. Guest guest
Thanks Sara, I'll check that out. I think I've just about decided to order from Dr. Jensen's website. There are some other books on there I would like to get. Ann called BookHQ.com, where you can search for books and it'll tell you where they have them, in what condition and for how much. It even gives you a list of all the coupons for each store--sweet. Hope this helps somebody! --ST
Guest guest
In Detroit we have this amazing, massive, four-story warehouse called King Books. They have over 400,000 books on everything you can imagine, plenty of antiques (I once found an 1850's color-lithograph copy of The Scottish Warrior for six bucks) and some amazing prices. It's one of our best landmarks here, IMO. *lol* I do get used books online sometimes, though -- there's an excellent site (which Sara's not affiliated with at all) called BookHQ.com, where you can search for books and it'll tell you where they have them, in what condition and for how much.
