I was thinking today about the things charcoal is good for. I was wondering if charcoal would help take the food poisoning out of the system. If not what would you suggest to use for it. I don't have this problem to deal with but just checking before I need it--hopefully never. Our church may be having a salad potluck this weekend. At these events it is always wise to be careful as food poisoning can happen if the food wasn't kept cold. Basic hygeine on the part of church members goes a long way. For prevention, here are a few tips: Avoid shellfish dishes, such as mussels, clams, shrimp, and oysters Keep salads chilled any way you can Avoid leaving dishes in a hot car any way you can Try to arrange your life so that cooking is done soon before the event When cutting meat or chicken, wash the knife before using it to cut anything else Rinse off your cutting board often If you get food poisoning, usually because a new member didn't follow these rules, there are a few herbs that have been known to help. Number one is Golden Seal, just a small amount, and you should take the raw powder so its bitter taste is fully appreciated. That bitterness actually helps. Rose hips, peppermint, foenugreek, and fennel tea helps to settle down the stomach. For the aftereffects, take extra Vitamin C. There were 23 employees at the emergency room for treatment of food poisoning. My husband got it, and I gave him a sports bottle of water with Raw organic apple cider vinegar in it..about 4 tbsp vinegar. The cramps and vomiting stopped in a couple hours. He believes me now. He went to the health food store and had NO trouble getting me several big jugs of ACV!!LOL!!!
