Taking this list apart would be a useful exercise. That said, i tend to give

Kloss somewhat less credibility than many other writers.

I know nothing about some of these, but will comment on the ones i know well, in

relation to this. Actually there are many things that tend to stimulate the

appetite.

chamomile -- tends to be a relaxant, helps sleep, counters some allergies, and

so can have a side effect of stimulating appetite.

gentian root -- digestive stabilizer. It is one of the main ingredients of

Angostura bitters, which are commonly available in most parts of the former

British Empire.

ginseng -- the " cure-all " . In Chinese medicine, ginseng has been used for

thousands of years to help just about any condition. I would recommend that, if

the poor appetite is also present with a general lack of energy, this would be

appropriate.

goldenseal -- i disagree with this use of it. This herb is mainly valuable for

fighting infections, and at this point is one of the few things in the world

that will fight viral infections. But using it as an appetite stimulant would

be incorrect.

strawberry -- not sure how this would work to stimulate appetite. Some people

are allergic to this fruit. It is high in Vitamin C, like its relative Rose

Hips. (I would not expect either of these to be avialable in Pakistan.)

wormwood -- very potent, and dangerous. Hannah Kroger recommended it against

liver parasites. In some cases, these will depress appetite, but usually the

effect of parasites is to increase appetite, especially for sugar and other

unwholesome foods.

marjoram -- this is a spice. Most spices will help increase appetite. I rarely

use this alone in cooking. It blends well in Italian dishes.

Here is a short list of other spices that are good for increasing appetite,

along with other properties when known. Sometimes people don't want to eat

simply because the available food tastes lousy. This is why spices are used in

the first place.

Oregano -- anti-infection

Rosemary -- mild anti-infection

Cardamom

Coriander

Fennel -- settles the digestive system

Thyme

Cardamom and Coriander are produced in Pakistan, i believe. They are often used

as ingredients in curry powders.
