Guest guest
Good morning, I just joined this group and have been using herbs and alternative methods for my family and animals for 20 some years. This year I am planting some herbs I have never planted as I intend to grow as many of my own medicinal herbs as I can. I have both skullcap lateriflora and skullcap baikal and would like some information as to whether these may be used interchangably or if one is more effective than the other. My daughter has migraine headaches that are a combination of stress, hormones and seasonal. I am trying to find something to help her. Presently she is using accupressure along with a lavender and peppermint eo combination. This helps a little but not with the severe cases. Respectfully, Roxanne Roxanne J. Guest guest
Hi Roxanne, According to this site: www.healthwell.com/healthnotes/Herb/Scullcap_Chinese.cfm, The two are not interchangable. Chinese scullcap has been used in connection with the following conditions: Bronchitis, hay fever, hepatitis and hypertension. Historical or traditional use. Chinese scullcap is typically used in herbal combinations to treat inflammatory skin conditions, allergies, high cholesterol and triglycerides, and high blood pressure. I do hope that this helps. Guest guest
Roxanne, the Scullcap I was refering to in my " herbs for anxiety " reply is the more common American Scullcap. Why spend all the time and energy growing it when you can buy it at most health stores. Here is some info...... http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/com/ConsHerbs/Skullcapch.html
Guest guest
Hi, The reason I want to grow skullcap is because I am into self sufficiency, a little weird, and trust what I harvest and prepare to be fresher and all organic. Slowly, I am making my own tinctures, soaps, spirits such as dandelion beer and others and wish to learn more about nosodes. Basically, if I can make it or grow it I won't buy it. It's a life style thing. Roxanne Roxanne J. Guest guest
Roxanne, I think what you are doing is just fabulous!! You must live somewhere out in the country to be able to grow all your herbs. I live in a small town and my house is backed up to a Burger King! LOL!! Last year I planted my first veggie garden, I did not use any pestiside or any kind of fertilizer, I just planted and let them go! I only planted roma tomatoes and cucumbers, but they were the best! this year I planted just flowers and am waiting to see how they go. I still want to plant a veggie garden next year but, my concern is all the cars that go to the drive thru window at Burger King. I can just see all the brake dust and exhaust fumes all over my plants. Well anyways, I just wanted to say to you that what you are doing is just great! If you can grow it, then go for it!!!
