Guest guest
- P.M. herbal remedies Sunday, April 14, 2002 9:56 PM [herbal remedies] Help Please just a little info for School project I home school my girls and one of them needs an intervew with someone that has used herbs for a while other than mother. She and I were wondering if one or all of you would awnser these questions. Peg Q: How long have you been a herbalist? A: I am only a self-taught herbalist. I hold no degree or paper stating that I have passed any exams to become an herbalist. However I have no fear of treating myself for anything. I have herbalist friends I can count on for advice when I feel stuck. Q: How did you get interested in herbs? A: I had a suspicion I had cancer 5 years ago. Three years ago I went on a raw fruit and veg food diet, and started studying herbs both online and every book I could get my hands on. Six months later I went to a doctor who said that she believed I had cancer. I did go ahead and get a hysterectomy, and my doctor thought I had cancer and sent a biopsy off to the lab. She said it looked like cancer, but it wasn't cancer. I believe I helped my body keep from having active cancer. It sure didn't hurt to do what I did anyway!!! Q: What motivated you to begin using herbs in the first place? A: See above------------------ Q: How old is herbal practice? A: Old as man is I believe!!!!! Q: What are the benefits of using herbs over conventional medicine? A: With eating properly, not carelessly, plus using the proper strength herbs, I believe we can achieve and maintain good health. Q: Does it matter where you get your herbs from? A: Yes, it matters very much!!! I gather my herbs wild, away from roads or pollutants. I wash them well, and dry them before making teas or tinctures. Q: Is there any special way you should put up herbs? A: No, they can be dried for teas or tinctures, or saved for use later that way. There are many ways to use herbs. Q: How does using herbs compare to conventional medicine? A: I see little comparison myself. I don't use conventional medicine. I also believe in the power of prayer, which I consider as important as the herbs. Q: How do herbs affect the body compared to conventional medicine? A: I use herbs to stay well, not to treat symptoms. Conventional medicine waits until you are ill to treat you! Q: Are herbs good for people of all ages? I hear that you shouldn't give some herbs to babies under two years of age. A: I'm staying away from this question. I have grandbabies, but I would not treat them, my state looks down on herbalists anyway. But I will treat myself in a heartbeat!!! Q: Could you give me some examples of herbs or combinations of herbs that have worked for you? A: First of all, I have not been to a doctor in two years for any reason. I make teas(all separate) of stinging nettles, cleavers, chickweed, Neem leaves, Hawks-beard,ground papaya leaf, Bidens pilosa.(antibacterial, blood cleaning, tonic, anticancer, anti malarial, etc) For salads, I can add purslane, cut-leafed evening primrose, chickweed, ground ivy, Bidens pilosa leaves. These things grow in my back yard wild. These are all medicinal herbs. Hope this helps some. Elaine
