Guest guest
If I am not mistaken (and very well could be) it is already illegal to transport certain plants, seeds, etc. from and to certain states. As I understand it, the point is to stop the planting of those " weeds " that can get out of hand outside their natural habitat. (Kudzu would probably be one, along witht he wild rose bushes that about took over Virginia years ago. Fescue would be another.)Now, I certainly realize that the government is interested in restricting things they often shouldn't, but I don't think they'll be too quick to check car trunks and such for herbal seeds or small plants in the very near future. Probably some of the seed trades that are made now are actually " illegal " under current statute. I know there are signs on I95 as you come in and go out of Florida that it is illegal to transport agricultural plants into the state from other states without permits...... You get my point? There are also good " bug " reasons as well. A friend of mine in Florida offered me a Rosemary plant last fall to bring home. Well, it was infested with fire ants! Thankfully I realized that before I accepted her offer and headed back up north. Sometimes there are really good reasons to use care.
