Jenny,

Look in the files under health and nutrition. There is a recipe for cultured cabbage juice that's probably better than anything you can buy.

of acidophilus, and i've been taking that. does anybody have a particular brand that they'd recommend? preferably not involving dairy?

UGH.

Hi y'all. So, as you can see by the subject line, I've got a bit of

an issue. I've made a turn for the healthy in my life of late, I've

been vegan since the beginning of January, cut out a lot of sugars

from my diet, started excercising, lost 25 lbs, and otherwise feel

great. Part of my turning myself around was seeing the dentist for

the first time in a while. I have a genetic condition that results

in a complete lack of enamel on my teeth, so I've had all of them

bonded. Bondings crack, chip, and otherwise get nasty. It turns out

that I'd let one crack go long enough that an infection had spread up

to the point where the bone meets the tooth. So, time for a root

canal before I get a six tooth bridge. Yay! Now, because of the

root canal, I just took the dentist's advice and went on his

antibiotics. YUCK. I almost quit them, but didn't have time to do

any research into natural intensive antibiotics as I'm working on a

theatre show right now, and have just come through midterms at

school. All of this is the long way round to saying that because of

the antibiotics I seem to have developed a yeast infection. It

really sucks. I'm off of them now, but now dealing with the

repercussions. I swear I'm never taking antibiotics again for as

long as I can say anything about it. But, in the meantime, does

anybody have any suggestions? I really don't want to take something

over the counter, but...umm...itching is really unpleasant when I

have to spend my day in a school environment, either sitting in class

or working in an advanced technology center there.

sorry the post was so long, just wanted to explain a little.

thanks all for listening...

thanks for the pointer ann. i'm currently in the process of putting up a theatre piece at my university, closing on a new apt, getting out of the one that i'm living in, going on a two day shopping spree to buy everything i need for the new place, finishing up finals, and otherwise involved in much havoc and mayhem...so i guess i'll stick to the store bought (since i already have it) for the next few days, and then come the start of the new week i'll use my new knives and my new blender in my new kitchen and put it all in my new closet. (can you tell i'm excited?)

thanks again,

Hi Jenny,

Whenever taking antibiotics be sure to replace your

good bacteria with a probiotic (from your local

healthfood store)Be sure that it contains FOS. You may

also want to try Pao d'arco tea, vitamin C, for the

time you have the infection avoid ALL sugars and

caffeine. In Chinese medicine teeth are related to

bones and bones a function of the Kidney....so you may

in the future look there for a preventative for both

the teeth getting worse and disfuction of things below

the bellybutton.
