Guest guest
Hello All, I have a friend who had breast cancer a couple of years ago, she went through chemo and is now cancer free. However, her body is acting like she's going through menopause, but her doctors did blood tests on her and said her estrogen levels are too high for it to be menopause. They won't give her any kind of hormonal meds because of her history(thank god), but she needs something. She is having really bad hot flashes, night sweating, skipped periods, and her doctor wants to give her anti-depressants. She refuses to take them and has asked me about herbs, but because of her situaton, I don't know if the female formulas are the right thing for her. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Guest guest
This is exactly the sort of situation where wild yam is worth a try. At least it is mild, and rarely produces any side effects. Another suggestion would be to include more soy in the diet if there is no particular allergy to it present. Anti-depressants often are " cancer promoters " . They can't cause cancer, but if it is there in the body, they will cause it to speed up somewhat. The US FDA currently does not recognize this problem sufficiently.
