Guest guest
<de-lurking> Hi folks: I have heard that Chamomile is another alt treatment for depression and anxiety. Supposedly it contains a good amount of tryptophan. Can anybody explain the mechanisms of how chamomile works, further? Thanks James

Guest guest
Tryptophan is an animal substance -- have not heard of it in any plant. It's present in milk. Chamomile is a known relaxant. So sometimes depressed people will find it helpful, since by getting relaxed a bit it becomes easier to be part of the immediate environment, instead of being a little ball cut off from everything else. Traditionally, it is used to aid sleep, to calm children down, and to help open up any respiratory system congestion. Come to think of it a few times in my life, i've been seriously stuffed up with no relief, and that's depressing. My best success with depression comes after viewing it as a spiritual, not a physical phenomenon. One can get relief from depression with good nutrition in general, especially including the B vitamins. But even after that, depression can come back. When it gets handled on a spiritual level, it still may come back, but when a person sees the origin of depressions they don't have such a bad effect any more. Thanks to some training, i can now trace any episode of depression to a particular person. In each case, a person will put out something in my direction, that would make me feel hopeless if i truly believed it. Then, it is my responsibility to see that i don't compromise my beliefs with something that came from outside. There is a lot to this, of course, including the source of the training, which will only be disclosed to those who inquire privately.
