When I was in my early 40's I was having heavy periods and passing big

blood clots, my md told me it was because I was about to go through

menopause to. Somehow that didn't sound right so I started looking for a

cause. Mine turned out to be the pain pills (that were blood thinners)

the md prescribed for tennis elbow I had got from working with a stroke

patient at the time. When I quit the pain meds the periods went back to

normal. I have since went through menopause without the periods

changing. Your friend might like to look into the type of meds she is

taking and see if any are blood thinners, that was what caused my

problem.
