Guest guest
Nobody responded to my question about using clove oil *before* the dentist visit, so I just took the plunge. I painted my gums with a clove oil and olive oil mixture before I went in for my deep planing this time. I waived off the local anesthetic! Not with no pain, mind you, but with less than I would have had the regular way... and no numb mouth to contend with later. When I got home I put on another application to kill the soreness. BTW, the hygienest said that it also reduced bleeding, which helped her to see what she was doing. I'm for that! YES, I'd recommend using clove oil both before and after a dental visit to reduce the pain... whether or not one gets a local. Just thought I'd share.
