My herbs are in glass jars, in a paper bag, in a dark, cool closet. They stay fresh for a long, long time!!! If you use amber glass jars, you probably don't really need the paper bag, but I do use a paper bag over the clear glass jars. Glass is supposed to be the best storage container for herbs, with plastic baggies being about second best for short term storage only. Hope that helps!!! Guest guest
I wash and save small glass jars. This includes jam, horseradish, mustard, pickle, Miracle Whip -- it's amazing how many of these can build up after a while. Glass is the best storage. Sometimes in a pinch i'll use a vitamin container. Generally plastic isn't such a hot idea because some herbs will react with it. You never know what's in plastic any more. Every herbalist ends up owning a bottle brush eventually.
