Guest guest
For databases of information that may be randomly organized, there is no better program out there than AskSam, from Perry, Florida. I have been using their program, in various versions, for several years. Most of my activities are coordinated with it. Among the different files in it, are: a database about healing characteristics of music, main address file for email, a reference database on people who provide resources about Nikola Tesla, an international address list, and many more. Each of these files is structured in its own way. In AskSam, you're not restricted by having to use field names. In other words, information can be dumped into a record, and you can add field names later once you figure out what has been added. This helps a lot, as i can pull in small text files on various subjects quickly and not have to worry about how they're formatted. What is most amazing about this program is how fast searches work. It is literally instantaneous. You can search through field names, but most of the time it's easiest to do with just simple words in a query. Those who have worked with Access, where all searches can only be done through field names, will definitely appreciate this. For example, you could scan in some old herbal documents from the 1890's, port them into AskSam, and then be able to reference them by any key word at all.
