flaky face

Hi,

I don't think I've ever posted before, being more of

a lurker than a poster.

I'm 34 years old and over the past 2-3 months I've

begun having a flaky face. Not all over, just in

patches. One patch between my eyes and one larger

patch beside my mouth which was about 3 " in size. I'm

starting to get areas under my eyes as well.

It doesn't react to moisturizer very well, so I'm

wondering if it's something other than standard dry

skin. I don't think it's a central heat issue, as it's

been quite pleasant here in N.E. Okla. I sleep with

the window open still! The weatherman predicts that

will change soon though. :)

Just wondered if any of you have gone through

similar and what you did about it.

I take Cat's Claw and Valerian for fibromyalgia,

are those causing the flakiness? If I were a pie

crust, I'd be perfect!!! I've been taking those for

about 9 months now.

Seems like Valerian could contribute to the flakiness. It has a drying

effect. That's one herb that deserves a rest now and then, no matter what

the condition.

Since you mention fibromyalgia, and you live in NE Oklahoma, check your

environment for molds. Those are prevalent in that area, and could be

contributing to a candida imbalance in your body. Some of the molds i saw

there were of the white type, which are especially difficult to detect.

Take a black rag and rub it against the walls in any area that smells a

little " off " . It's best to do this just after you've been outdoors for a

while, so you can detect the odors better. If you get white residue on the

rag, you have white mold, which needs to be handled with an application of

calcium carbonate or even ordinary baking soda. Doing this job has a

potential to make you very ill right afterwards, so have some purifying teas

like Chaparral on hand. Of course molds can develop almost anywhere, but i

observed it a lot from Tulsa on to the northeast on the occasions when i've

worked there, which were in 1977 and 1998.

Living where you do, i would strongly recommend that you travel over to

Talequah, and get familiar with the traditional Cherokee medicine

techniques. They have been in the area longer than white folks (since

1830), and over the years managed to develop some specific ideas which you

could find useful. I know they were big on Lobelia, so that's one herb to

study right away. They used to smoke it for added prayer power, a technique

that is not usually included in herbal books. Since fibromyalgia is not a

single condition with a single origin, some experimentation on your part

should be allowed.

Hi Brenda,

You could be looking at food allergies, too. It's amazing what they

can do to you. I didn't know I had any food allergies, and they

didn't show up on a patch test, but that definitely was my problem.

It's tempting to treat skin problems locally, but IMHE they're often

just an outside effect from something wrong on the inside. Just a

thought for you. Good luck!

Dear Brenda,

Although there are probably diet reasons for your condition (and biochemical as well), I would recommend you start using UDO's Perfected Oil Blend right away. 4 to 6 tablespoons a day to start should show you some significant changes for the better within a day or three. This blend of Omega 3, 6, & 9 oils may be all that you are missing and could resolve the entire problem. Let me know.

Love,

Doc
