Guest guest
Well I have been defeated. I had the signs of a cold Tuesday (for me it's usually a scratchy or slightly sore throat). So I stated taking Echinacea (tincture 3x per day) and a cold/flu tea I mixed up (peppermint, ginger root, yarrow, and elder flower) about 6x per day. I've also been taking Elderberry every morning (except the two days before the cold symptoms, I forgot) and been drinking fresh juice (Orange, Apple, Grapefruit; Grapefruit, Apple (only 1 fruit juice a day); Carrot, Ginger, Apple; and Carrot, Parsley). It's Wednesday now and I would say I'm at the peak of the cold. I've been sleeping well and haven't been feeling too bad overall. But I took some cold med. this afternoon, hence the feeling of defeat. Not so much because I just couldn't take it anymore but because I had the runny nose from hell and was going to lunch with my co-workers. I just didn't want to be Ms. Snotty Face during lunch. So I guess I need to know what I can take, herbally, that will help with this runny nose of mine. Thanks for the support, Bea Email: bhurd

I hope you begin to feel well soon. I have had really good luck with fennel seed and horseradish root for a runny nose. Drys me up in no time, without the lingering effects of antihistimines. You can find capsules at your local herb store, but I bet someone here has recipe for a tea or tincture. Best wishes, Clove ~You already hold the key to everything you wish to become. Guest guest
I'll try that. I like tea, but it might be too mild in my case and I definitely don't have time to make a tincture, but I don't mind buying it. Guest guest
Dear Bea, Don't feel defeated! Get pissed and just do more. Want to knock it off??? Dose up on a full oz of Echinacea, a full oz. of Total tonic, then stick a half of a large clove of garlic (cut lengthwise) dipped in Organic Olive oil, up where the sun don't shine ;o), jump into the bathtub with 6 cups of Yarrow or Ginger tea steaming beside you to drink while you get the water as hot as you can stand it for a minimum of 1/2 an hour, preferrably for 45 minutes and then just sweat it out. Never fails for me or my patients. Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington - B. Guest guest
Thanks Doc, Fortunately I'm over it, I'm not sure I could be able to stick anything where the "sun don't shine". Although I did break down and take some medicine this has been the quickest recovery ever. Typically colds really do me in. I don't know why, but it usually takes me 10-14 days to get over (before herbs etc.)! This cold lasted 4 days! I give credit to the herbs and raw juices. I do believe I could have gotten over this in 3 days, but I over did it Saturday. I should have relaxed a little more and given my body a chance to fight the war within. Thank you all for the advice. Guest guest
You're welcome Bea. Actually, you should never be afraid of sticking garlic up the rectum. I know I was being light about it, but in all seriousness, I insist that my patients do it when they have a serious cold or fever. It does work great.
