Guest guest
I bought my herb press from Kedco. Found their ad in the back of " Herbs for Health " magazine. It's also the Torchietto Spremi and is actually a stainless steel wine press with a very well balanced handle for pressing -- has three knobs for turning. I paid $125 which includes shipping and tax. The number is 800-654-9988 and they're in New York. One of the nice things about it is it has a rubber base so doesn't run all over the place and has a spigot for the menstruum to run out. It doesn't come with a 'sack' but muslin works great. If you do have an Herbs for Health magazine, look in the back and you'll see a picture of it. Definitely a good investment. Guest guest
Does Herbs for Health magazine have a website? I live in the boonies and have to get my magazines through the mail. Marcia from Arkansas
Guest guest
Here's a few on e-bay in a range of prices. http://tinyurl.com/ydwzfxz I've had the red one for decades; use it primarily for tinctures in small batches. Not sure how durable that $39.95 one is, but it certainly looks like it would do for home operation. For large oil infusions, we have a heavy-duty 5-gallon wine press, not the wooden ones that you'll find for actually pressing the grapes (expensive), but it came from a wine-making shop. It's very thick plastic and has a crank down heavy disc that smashes menstruum (herb)kept enclosed in a mesh bag after straining bulk of infused oil so that you have less waste. Hope this is helpful. Any comments on what is a good budget one for starters? I have tried to search the files, nothing is available. Thanks, Annie
Guest guest
Hi Annie. I use one for my herbal infusions. Works great! I got it from Mountain Rose Herbs. They also have replacement carafes for a reasonable price. I always have an extra one on hand in case I break mine, which is bound to happen once in awhile if you're clumsy, like me!
