Guest guest
I was wondering if any of you knew of an herbal remedy, preferably a tea I can miss together, for my husband. He is a smoker and is just not ready to quit. I have been giving Chlorophyll juices every evening. After coming down with a cold, I made him a cold/flu tea, which nipped it in the butt of course. Now he has expressed the wiliness to treat a " lung tonic " tea to counter some of the damage he is doing to his lungs. This might be aiding a bad habit, but if I can find anything that might help, maybe it will build his confidence in herbs and try herbs to help him quit smoking all together. Yes I am in a fantasy world. Anyway I appreciate any suggestions. Also, my husband is in the military with a Top Secret clearance which means there are some herbs he can not take. He told me yesterday that he wasn't allowed to take Echinacea, would anyone be able to shed some light on this. Typically they are not allowed thing that would impair their judgment or slow them down (mentally). They also can't take things that produce similar chemicals to illegal drugs, i.e. poppy seeds. Does Echinacea do any of these? Bea Email: bhurd
Guest guest
Hi Bea, I don't know why he isn't allowed to take echinacea other than military ignorance of the stuff. Echinacea has no negative effects on one's awareness level that I've ever heard of. You do have to take a break from it once in a while. As you can't keep turning the key on in the ignition when the engine's already going. You'll burn out your starter motor. Same goes for echinacea and your immune system. Echinacea should be fine for him. On the other hand, the one herb I'd recommend would be Lobelia (which is tremendous for all lung conditions), and this would be one of those herbs that his job would probably be somewhat, to some degree, effect his activity. Lobelia relaxes you, and this could be somewhat of a concern. It is the herb that would help with his lungs though. Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington - B. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Doc. Is this a palatable herb? Can I give it to him in tea form? Or should I use a tincture? I guess I'm asking what the most effective form would be. Thanks, Bea Email: bhurd Ian Shillington N.D. Guest guest
A Lobelia tincture would be the fastest, the easiest and the most effective. As far as palatability is concerned welllllllllll, I've never heard of Lobelia as being considered palatable (LOL). It'll leave a scratchy sensation on the back of your throat, and if you take too much (over half an oz), you'll puke, but that is what it was designed to do ;o) Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington - B.
