Guest guest
I am not an herbalist, but I use simple (in the sense of easily prepared and fairly pedestrian) home remedies on myself and family members. I wonder if anyone could comment on this infusion/decoction that seems to ward off colds, etc. 1 teaspoon green tea 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp oregano (the real stuff, or i hope it's the real stuff) 1 tsp rosemary 1 tsp licorice root 1 tsp Pau d'arco 1/2 tsp lemon peel And finally, 1 pint of filtered water Mix it all together and heat to a point just short of boiling. Steep at least ten minutes, perhaps giving the mixture about 33 seconds in the microwave at the five and ten minute marks. Basically the longer it steeps the better. I know this is probably horrifying to tea fanatics, who will be aghast at the thought of high quality Chinese green tea being treated this way... But basically, why does this seem to work? Is it overkill? I've heard that Pau d'arco's active ingredients are not even water soluble, and yet it seems to be quite helpful even alone... Thanks for any helpful comments.
