Making a tincture

Hello!

I made my first tinctures this month and have a question.

I want to make some tinctures in preparation for parenthood.

But I am hesitant to make them with alcohol for an infant and I

understand the glycerine isn't the best. Should I be concerned about

the alcohol or should I use apple cider vinegar? Also, how does one

figure out dosages? My cayenne is much stronger than anything in the

store so I can't really go by their dosages.

Thanks for your help!

Depending on the herb, you could use apple cider vinegar very effectively. There is more alcohol in a ripe banana than there is in one dropperful of a tincture. I'd not be too concerned as you'll be using very small dosages. As far as dosages are concerned, you want to use the 150 Rule which goes by the baby's (or child's) weight. You take the weight of the baby and put that figure over 150. Reduce the fraction and you have your dosage. IE. If the baby weighs 15 lbs. you place 15 over 150 and you'll see this reduces down to 1/10th. If the regular adult dosage is 2 dropperfuls which is 70 drops, this would reduce down to 7 drops. Get the idea???? When the baby's weight increases, so does the dosage. Very simple.

Hope this helps.

Love,
