Guest guest
Hi again! My bros in law is taking depression pills--CELEXA--The Dr. told him he had to take them for five weeks. He wants to stop taking them and has been on them or 2 1/2 weeks. Does anyone know if he can cut them out cold turkey? He wants to go all natural. Does anyone know about these? Thanks Patty
Guest guest
He could stop cold turkey as long as he started taking other supplements first for a day or three. Best bet would be to have him call me as a lot of Questions & Answers are in order here. Guest guest
Even after that short a time, it is generally recommended that this medication be tapered gradually, and even then the patient needs to be watched carefully and kept in a safe situation where he can't harm anyone. In particular, it is a wise precaution to make sure all weapons are far away from a person in this situation -- reactions only happen in a small proportion of patients, but it is higher than the number of people struck by lightning in a year. If the patient experiences any upsetting reactions just after a dosage reduction, he has to be put back on the previous dose, and then taken down again after about a week. This is what i understand is the standard medical protocol for this type of situation. So, no cold turkey. That's dangerous. At 11:36 AM 11/28/01 EST, you wrote: >Hi again! Guest guest
Thanks everyone, my bros in law should NEVER have been put on these as he really wasn't that bad. He has never been depressed before. It is just a sad situation and the pills have made him worse because he is not sleeping. He is a loving, caring and wonderful person. He called Doc Ian and talked to him about it. Doc has him on the right track. Thanks Doc and everyone. Patty
