May I ask what you would recommend for a Pita? I have heard many things,

most of which are in contradiction to one another. I would be interested in

your opinion.

Pitta is in many ways the toughest body type to work with. In fact one of

the questions that i use in interviews to determine type, is: " Have you ever

been told that you're too intense? " Almost all Pittas will answer with a

huge YES!!!!! So i'm not surprised at the contradictory recommendations.

We know more about what NOT to do than what to do. Pittas definitely should

not run -- we are at great risk for joint injuries. Weightlifting might be

all right, except that it tends to blow out joints if done to excess with

Pittas, but not with Kaphas. So by process of elimination our ideal

exercise turns out to be walking. I have noticed a couple of Pittas who are

involved in Volksmarch, and they are thriving. So almost any style of

walking seems to be ok. In my own case, and this is surely true for many

other Pittas, the walking has to have a purpose, or we won't get around to

it. So i have arranged to live in a neighborhood where there are plenty of

opportunities for walking.

I think shooting baskets and cross-country skiing would also be good for Pittas.

Oh yes, the intense question...of which I respond with an equally intense

answer...LOL.

Walking or any activity with a purpose I also agree with highly in my case.

Once in it for a purpose, extremely headstrong and timely duration. I am

also very sensitive to spices. If used more than just a dash for flavor, I

get thrown totally out of whack. The only think I have found that can

return that to balance is dairy, but I have also been told dairy is not good

for this body type. Major conundrum.

That bit about dairy not being good for the Pitta types may be inaccurate to

some degree. Mainly we should avoid cheeses, and particularly the heavily

molded varieties like Brie, Gorgonzola, and Bleu. In my experience, a

little bit now and then doesn't seem to hurt. Never eat cheese when

whatever troubling symptoms are flaring up.

But i think genetic background may play a part here. People with some

Celtic, Teutonic, and mixtures of those seem to thrive on dairy. This would

include many Swiss and Austrian lines, and perhaps some Bavarians too. Also

i have never heard of dairy allergies among the Dutch. So definitely take a

look at that part of your makeup.

On the other hand, vinegar tends to mess me up. And in general any marinade

is not good for us.

We can handle butter, particularly the clarified form known as Ghee, which

helps all body types.

So far there doesn't seem to be enough information about dairy allergy to

determine whether it is a dominant or recessive trait. This is something we

all need to know!

I find that when I seem totally off balance or overheated due to food, I can

eat yogurt and everything swings back to how it should be. Soft white

cheeses help me too. I just happen to love Bleu cheese... Everything in

moderation, huh? :-)

This is particularly interesting, being of Irish and Scottish decent. I

happen to love any kind of cheese, but specifically light cream sauces which

tend to fall into this category. I have not ever had any kind of reaction to

a dairy product. I have always been curious as to why everyone else had a

sensitivity and me, who is sensitive to everything, had none. Maybe this

explains it a bit. Thank you.

No, I do not do well with vinegar either... Even your more subtle natural

salad dressings...if they are not a cream base, I cannot stomach them. I

love the taste, but not the reaction. However, pickles....I crave pickles,

kosher dill in particular.

I am curious to know why, if my body gets thrown out of balance if I ingest

heavy spices, I crave incredibly hot, spicy food. Specifically Indian or

Thai spiced foods. The only thing I can fathom is a hormonal imbalance.

There is that proverbial wisdom saying that we tend to crave the things

which are most damaging to us.

But there are some people who really do have allergies to spices. And

perhaps in your case, the spices are the opposite of dairy, which is good

for you.

Hormonal imbalances occur whenever there is any kind of drift from ideal

health. They are not necessarily the origin of the problem, but a harmonic

of the problem.

There probably is. For over a year now it has been necessary for me to read

that " Eat Right For Your Blood Type " book. Many have said it's a key

reference, so perhaps you're giving me the stimulus to actually get down

with it.
